The Unfolding

Rate this book
How Christ-centered is the Old Testament? Does it just contain a few predictions about Jesus, along with some shadows and types?

In The Unfolding book, Timothy Brindle further unpacks the content of The Unfolding album with a corresponding chapter for each song’s lyrics to show you how all of the major themes of the Bible’s one story of redemption unfold from Genesis to Revelation culminating in Jesus Christ and the salvation of His people.

Creative idea. Love that it comes with soundtrack. Might be good book for group study (high school?) in place of Kline and Beale. Sort of reads like a seminary paper though.

I loved this book. I had been waiting to read it for almost a year and a half, and it was worth it. The album is probably my favorite album right now (if not, it’s a close second). The idea of rapping a biblical theology is unique and glorious. My familiarity with the album meant that much of the book was not new, but there was still much fresh content. Brindle did an excellent job showing how the biblical authors connected the storyline of Scripture with words and ideas, climaxing and fulfilling all of them in Christ. Praise Him for all that He has done, written, and explained!

There is much technical language in this book, but it could still serve someone new to biblical theology well.
