Lisa M. Arreguin's latest book is a terrific and actually unusual resource for songwriters -- both wanna-be's and experienced pro's. Unusual in that it comes at the entire process from a deep philosophical and spiritual angle as to what it means to be a creative person, one looking to not only survive in this world but thrive in it as well. In this book you'll find more more about looking inside yourself for inspiration and fortitude than you will some of the more standard nuts-and-bolts how-to-write-a-song instructions. In point of fact, amidst all of the high-minded spiritual thinking, some of the nuts-and-bolts stuff there IS in here feels a little pedestrian and out-of-place in comparison. But this book really is just the sort of pep-talk that songwriters (and other creative folk) often need and very seldom get.
