A-B-Tree

Rate this book
These poems celebrate the ancient link between trees and writing expressed by the Gaelic tree alphabet, in which each of the 18 letters is associated with a native woodland species. There is a poem for each birch, rowan, alder, willow, ash, hawthorn, oak, holly, hazel, bramble, ivy, blackthorn, elder, pine, heather, gorse, aspen and yew. This poetry sequence was runner up in the 2015 Overton Prize and was written while Mandy Haggith was poet in residence at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh.
