কালকেতু নন্দী। পেশায় সে একটি বহুল প্রচারিত দৈনিকের ক্রীড়া সাংবাদিক; কিন্তু নেশায় গোয়েন্দা। ক্রিকেটার পঙ্কজ রায়ের বিশ্বরেকর্ড করা ব্যাট হারিয়ে যাওয়ার পর তার সন্ধান করতেই প্রথমবার সে আসে পাঠকের সামনে। তারপর কখনো কলকাতাকে বাঁচাতে, কখনো কোহিনূর হিরে উদ্ধার করতে আবার কখনো বা ক্রিকেটার সৌরভ গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়ের হিরের আংটি খুঁজে দিতে মাঠে নেমেছে সে। এমনই রুদ্ধশ্বাস ১২টি কাহিনি নিয়ে তৈরি হল এই সংকলন।

About the author

Rupak Saha Started his journalistic career as a freelance journalist in “AnandaBazar Patrika”, before shifting to the sports section. He later became the sports editor for” Ananda Bazar Patrika”. After serving as a sports editor for twelve years he was transferred to their films oriented magazine called “Anandalok”. In 2004 he became the editor of “Anandalok”. Here his tenure was for few years. At present he is the sports Editor of the newspaper “Sakalbela”

As a sports editor he had to cover World Cup Football, World Cup Cricket, Olympic Games and Asian Games for which he had widely traveled abroad. He is also seen as an authority on football and cricket in the panel of experts he was associated with various news channel.

In 1994, he wrote his first novel “Juwari”, when this was published in “Ananda Bazar Patrika” it brought him instant fame two of his novels “Juwari” & “Lal Ranger Prithivi” were made into films. He wrote sixteen novels the last one titled “Reality Slow” which was recently published. This new concept was well received by his fans. Even in the small screen he made his presence felt in the form of two serial “Sada Patay Kalo Daag” and Football in Zee TV. There were several telefilms and also another serial “Chorapothey Chiriakhana”. Rupak Saha also had contributed to several books on football. He was the proud recipient of the “Best Sports Journalist” award by the Govt. of West Bengal.

Kalketu, a sports journalist carries some detective works as his hobby. Most of the stories (except the last one - রক্তবীজ) are devoid of any excitements, hence took me about a week to finish the book. Some stories are concluded in a hasty way (maybe due to the fact that they were actually published for magazines and later found their way into the book) and most of them are very much predictable. In my opinion, these are mostly written for Young Children, so if you are at your twenties they would not probably suit you.

However, the editor, Arka Paitandi has done good job by compiling stories which are closely related and have some reference of it in the stories next to it.

I would rather recommend not to waste your time by reading these detective stories. Rather, re-reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes or Stories from Agatha Christie would be worthy of your leisure time.

রূপক সাহা এবং কালকেতুর সাথে পরিচয় আনন্দমেলা থেকে। কোহিনুর উদ্ধার প্রথম পড়ি আনন্দমেলা পূজাবার্ষিকীতে, খুব সম্ভবত ২০০০ কি ২০০১ সালে। এরপর প্রতিবছর নতুন সংখ্যার সাথে সাথে পেতাম নতুন আরেক গল্প। পরে আনন্দমেলায় রূপক সাহার লেখা না থাকায় কালকেতুর গল্প আর পড়া হয় নি। কালকেতুর গোয়েন্দাগিরি শুরুর কাহিনী নিয়ে ভীষণ কৌতুহল ছিল। অবশেষে এতবছর পর খুজেঁ পেলাম কালকেতুর প্রথম রহস্য।

গোয়েন্দা গল্প হিসেবে তেমন আহামরি কিছু না হলেও রূপক সাহার লেখার গুণে বই শেষ হয়েছে দ্রুতই। এখনকার আমি হলে বলতাম কি সব গাজাঁখুরি গল্প রে বাবা, কিন্তু নস্টালজিয়ার মোহে পড়ে গেলাম একদম। পড়তে পড়তে বার বার ছোটবেলায় ফিরে যাচ্ছিলাম, বিনা পয়সায় ভালোই টাইম ট্র্যাভেল হয়ে গেল।

গল্প গুলো পড়তে মন্দ লাগেনা, ক্রীড়া সাংবাদিক এর দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে নতুন ভাবে দেখা যায় অনেক বিষয়। গোয়েন্দা মানেই যে বিরাট কোন সমস্যা সমাধান করতে হবে তাতো নয়, অনেক তুচ্ছ ব্যাপারও লেখনীর গুনে অসামান্য হয়ে ওঠে। সেটাই করে দেখিয়েছেন লেখক। কালকেতু কে আবার দেখার আশায় রইলাম।
