★★★★★ I highly recommend this book for any suspense and thriller lovers.
★★★★★ Being the history buff that I am, I like all types of interesting facts about the past. The research that Wes did on the Shaolin was amazing. It takes an excellent writer to detail things and not have it come out boring or too wordy!
★★★★★ Wes writes to involve the reader, with a strong attention to the detail, the background to the storyline and the action. His characters are strong and very developed with lots of special touches to make you fall in love with them.
★★★★★ This story grabbed me from page one and I read it all in one setting. I just could not put the book down.
When readers compare my writing to Ian Fleming, Lee Childs and Tom Clancy, I'm flattered, grateful and in all honesty, embarrassed.
While Noah is one kickass dude, his Christian upbringing combined with a deep Shaolin Buddhist training, gives him a special depth that helps me write the kinds of stories that I love to read--action thrillers that grip the soul.

Thanks for giving me a bit of your time. Much appreciated.
My work is infused with relentless furious action and/or paranormal charismata. Contemporary worlds infused with mysticism. Breathless, brain-twisting plots. High stakes suspense that churns the psyche.
But ultimately it is knowing and experiencing the lives of people that provide the impetus of Stories that Grip the Soul.
I've made music with Kainai First Nations, helped save Russian refugees from deportation, hung with Martial Arts Grandmasters, counseled WWII vets on their deathbeds. Not to mention deep Chinese, cultural participation,

There were times when I was reading this when I wondered if the author was pulling previously-used vignettes from pigeonholes to assemble a new book. He wasn't, but much of the action is very similar to earlier Noah Reid books. I enjoyed the story, and have to say that Lowe has a great style of writing. The story is not for the faint of heart, but creates mental images that are breath-taking. Most of the characters are familiar, which gives rise to the deja vu feeling. By the end of the tale, some old friends are lost, creating a very bittersweet feeling. I got an advanced copy from the author for review. I found few typos, but thought the whole book deserved a rave review.
Forsaken Cargo #4 - Not a very good book from the lack of reality and no research of facts. The "force of a nuclear explosion knocked Prince . . . twenty feet away." Nuclear force equals twenty feet, huh. The action and the dialog are unbelievable, too much Hollywood influence and too many convenient happenings to make the story flow. The violence against tigers and leopards is too much and too graphic. Yes, it's a cultural and a sicko-psycho thing but it's too much. This is the worse written of the several books I've read so far in this series and I'm disappointed. I'm not seeing the horror of sex slave trading, but ungrateful children rebelling against help. Yes, the book is fast paced, but I find it boring and childish. It also bothered me not to have read all the books in sequence since so much of the past is regurgitated. I still own seven more books by this author that I probably will not read. 2*
An interesting introduction to the Shaolin philosophy, the main players and their histories and their plans for the future. Don't expect realism in everything. The violence against tigers is terrible, but if you understand that character's makeup/beliefs/culture, then you understand the violence. Some of the action is not realistic, so approach reading these books as entertainment, Hollywood-style. A lot of laughs are through out the books, some at the events unfolding, some from humor. There's a preview of each book, which I appreciate knowing.
Evil Rises - This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. The well written story introduces the Shaolin philosophy and the five important players in the Noah Reid series. The characters are interesting; their dialog realistic and streamlined; and while not a cliffhanger, the foundation is cast and continues. 4*
Noah In My Own Words - Noah's life story through law school before his adventurous life begins in earnest. Interesting, and has WR Lowe added into the short story. Tongue-in-cheek and there's a preview, which I appreciate knowing. I wouldn't buy this book outside of this boxed set; it's not needed. 3*
Betrayed - Fast paced; action packed; violent. Well written and interesting, but approach material as Hollywood influenced with some of the events working out a little too well. But the story moves on. How an elderly man ended 54 stories up on the outside of a building was never answered. Humorous from several different views points. Since I don't have the other books, there were players in this book I knew nothing about, but that didn't take away from the story since they were identified. No cliffhanger, but there's more to the series. 4*
Forsaken Cargo - Bk 4 Noah Reid Thriller Series - Written by Wesley R Lowe They just keep coming, Chin’s children!
Noah Reid, meet Prince, another child of criminal mastermind Chin. Prince, as motivated by his lust for power as he is for proving to his father that he is more than a glorified street thug, goes into business with Alexei, a Russian mobster. This duo shares a mutual depravity: a lust for sex with children. First on the agenda is to get back a busload of girls that Noah had taken from them. A dozen Russian chickadees from Alexei, and three Chinese twinkies from Prince. Can Noah stop Prince and Alexei before they force more children into sexual slavery? How is Noah going to shut down this unholy alliance before they drown the Big Apple in depravity and cruelty?
What did I like? Noah is just that guy that every woman would want to have around. Dedicated to the cause of saving people, loving and kind. This time he is trying to save young children from the deprivation of two men that want to use them for sex themselves and the sex trade. It takes everything that all of them have trying to keep these kids out of their hands and at a high cost to all.
What will you like? This is a very real problem in the world and Noah is just the guy to take them on. It is definitely RAW, DEPRAVED AND UNFLINCHING. Action intense, deeply passionate, extreme characters, powerful storyline and forceful finish! This author knows how to tell a story that will rivet you to the pages and want more. The details and descriptions take you right into the action making you fearful for the next page to take hold of you. New York streets will come alive as you read on and flinch with each bullet or every knife blade. Highly recommend this read for readers of this genre. I received this from the author as a member of the launch team for an honest review with no other compensation.
Unfortunately, this was the first book in the series that I have read, so it's kind of like walking into a movie theater in the last half of a thriller. It seems like the good guys are "bigger than life" and can do almost super power things. The bad guys are also super charged thugs who seem to be bullet proof and super strong. So, I guess it can be called an equal fight. Trying to stop the exploitation of young girls at the hands of Prince and Alexei throw our champions into a death match which include ferocious leopards. Unfortunately, lives are lost and change the entire dynamic of the Chad Huang Foundation. But, threads are left hanging to pull us into the next book...with Chin, Prince's father out for revenge.
I received a free copy and wanted to leave an honest review of my opinions.
Again the Noah Reid group faces extreme danger as they rescue two trios of girls that have been trafficked into sexual slavery. The continuing battle between and the hard-to-kill Chinese gangster as the gangster's son, Prince joins the adversaries in New York. Prince wrestles with leopards rather than the tigers favored by his father, and that creates a new and different trap for Noah. The descriptions are sparse, but provide enough detail to create good visual images for the reader. With a variety of enemies seeking to hurt them, Noah and his posse keep the reader in suspense through the entire book.
While this book is best read as part of the series , I am sure it would be just as exciting as a standalone novel. So much action that it is an adrenaline rush just reading it. I loved how it mixes Christianity and the martial arts as well as addressing the issues of Sex trafficking and drug addiction and the hope for reaching the other side of addiction. Get the whole series, you won't be disappointed.
Another action-packed thriller where Noah and JJ battle the forces of evil trying to protect the innocents and those they love. They never seem to run out of villains, and this book has some unexpected twists.
Another Noah Reid knockout from Wesley Lowe. I've loved this series from the first book and prequels. I'm not an avid action lover but the descriptions just make everything come alive. There are few action writers who can bring things to life for me and Wesley Lowe is among the best.
This is a novel about lost girls to prostitution slavery. JJ and Noah Reid have to fight the Father and son team of Chin and Prince. There is a lot of action and fighting in order to attempt to save the girls and get them to safety.
Forsaken Cargo: an Action Adventure Thriller Novel (Noah Reid Series
A new author for me, and he has now become one of my favourite s. I loved this book, couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Now, just have to get the first 5 books so I can carry on the series and catch up.
This episode introduces Prince (aka Leopard), the youngest son of Chinese crime lord, Chin Chee Fok. Prince grew up in street gangs, pushing drugs and kidnapping young girls for prostitution. He concentrated on body-building and training with leopards to hone his fighting skills, becoming a ruthless killer. Chin, still recuperating from his near-death escape from a fiery battle with his former partners, called upon Prince to locate and kill Noah Reid to recover the fortune that had been embezzled by those partners.
Alexei Gudonov, a Russian wannabe crime boss, had his hand in the normal criminal activities, including smuggling young girls into the US for prostitution. He tried to raise his status by partnering with Chin, who repeatedly put him off. Chin’s daughter, Queenie, tried to con Alexei for a million dollars, as she was also running a scam on Noah’s organization. As things fell apart, the 12 young Russian girls that Alexei had just smuggled in and 3 Chinese girls from Prince’s clutches were freed by Noah and his monk partner, JJ. The two criminal gangs then started working together to kill Noah and his friends, which set the stage for no holds barred, anything goes battles with cold-blooded murderers and Prince’s vicious, hungry leopards, with the girls as pawns in the middle of it all. Can Noah’s small group possibly stand against these hardcore criminals and save the girls from their treachery?
The story is well-planned, with many twists and turns that kept me engrossed, not wanting to put it down, so I lost some sleep along the way. Mr. Lowe has deeply developed the characters and descriptive details so it made me feel like I was on the street with them. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and am eager to read the next installment. I received an ARC of the revised book in return for this, my honest review.
This was a book that was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review (that and the fact that I belong to his ARC team...lol).
This is the second book of Wes Lowe's Noah Reid universe, which is centered around the eternal battle between good and evil with a helluva lot of Shoalin kung fu thrown in.
This book centers around the white slave trade (based on the text that the children were from the former Soviet republics) as an underlying theme.
The text itself is highly descriptive and colorful (instead of saying "bullets", they were referred to as "miniature elongated metal projectiles"....lol).
The downfall that I found with this book was that everyone involved is is described as a super-human type character, that are seemingly immune to all forms of injury (whether it be JJ falling out of the sky from a height of 500 feet and using a tree to break his fall or Prince being the steroid- enhanced teenager, being able to throw a leopard (with a Male leopard weighing approximately thirty-one kilograms)to a height of forty feet and for a distance of twenty seven feet (which according to Pythagorean theorem is a distance of 769 feet).
Other than the exaggerated hyperbole above, the story reads well.
As far as a review of the book goes, this would be worthy of a solid three and a half stars (or with the "new math", four stars).
As with all reviews, this is only my five cents worth.
Noah Reid, JJ, Olivia, Abby, Sam and Walrus had barely escaped the Russian Alexie and Chin's daughter, Queenie's, attack at the recording studio. But they did survive. In fact, they thought things were finally over. After all, Chin and 3 of his kids were dead, and Alexie had run in the other direction to escape. But, the best laid plans... In an unbelievable twist, Chin wasn't dead. In fact, he had been severely burned in the inferno, but Chin was a tough one. And, he was determined to eliminate Noah, permanently. Besides, he still had 2 kids left, including the treacherous one, Prince. And, Russians never give up either!
This next installment of the Noah Reid series is a testament to the saying that "if it weren't for bad luck, you would have no luck at all." And Chin and his family are the epitome of deranged hatred. It is a take no prisoners, knock down-drag out, fight to the finish. So, who actually comes out on top? Let me just say that the deaths were horrifically heartbreaking.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, and I couldn't wait to post this review. Just be prepared!!
Noah Reed, along with his girlfriend Olivia, young protégé JJ and Olivia's bff, Abby, are up against not only the evil Chinaman Chin, (think of a modern-dress version of Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon) and his equally vile offspring, Prince, but also a Russian mob boss Alexei and his morally corrupt henchmen, co-operating in the most heinous crime against humanity, people-trafficking young girls into sex slavery. Who will triumph in this epic action-thriller? Can Noah stay true to his Shaolin teaching, when his foe has no such hang-ups as honour and ancestry, when he's been taught that such things are merely signs of an enemy's weakness? Get your copy of Forbidden Cargo by Wes Lowe and make sure there are no deadly ninjas hiding in the shadows, before you settle down for a tale that will keep you up all night til you finish it!
Author Wes Lowe has another winner in "Forbidden Cargo", book 4 in his Noah Reid series. The book is full of non-stop action as Noah & his friends are battleing the Chin family again. When will it end ... or will it? "Forbidden Cargo" relates to human trafficing & what amounts to slavery. Noah & friends rescue some girls & their "owners" are less than pleased. The action takes you from NYC's Chinatown to Little Oddessa & finds them fighting both Russian thugs & Chineese Triad guys. Oh did I mention, cage fights? With a twist -- human vs. large, wild cats. If you like action packed thrillers, you should like this one.
Chin only wanted robust children for his purpose, the one he named Prince was as vile, as his father. Russian Alexia a mob boss and his henchman they were into human trafficking. They joined forces the purpose to get rid of Noah and get the money Noah had seized. Noah and his girlfriend Olivia with his skill as a Shaolin will stop them. Action to the end, with one goal to save the innocent girls. Given Arc for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Thrilling! Another well written, fast paced instalment in the Noah Reid adventures. Another of Chin's offspring takes on Noah and his friends. Prince hates his father but loved power and money, which leads to a showdown of epic proportions. This is my favourite book in the Noah Reid stories, so far!
Insanely full of twists, turns, and intense mind-blowing action. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book and I didn’t want to put it down! I can’t believe how things turn out, it was such a shocker. I wonder how things will go when Noah goes up against Chin’s final kid and of course, Chin himself. I love this series.
Alexei convinces Prince, Chin's son, to go after Noah and JJ to get back the young girls they saved from enslavement. Action packed fighting to try to save the girls that have been recaptured. Leopards that Prince uses to fight are used against Noel and his partners as they attempt to resave the girls. You will not want to put this one down.
Noah Reid is the best in martial arts. This book is all action. The theme is stopping human trafficking and there are even some action between Leapords/Tigers and men.Do not miss this one because you can not stop reading it till the end.
Noah and JJ have their hands full trying to save young girls who have been slaved by both Russian and Chinese mafia. This is no ordinary adventure and it is questionable whetehr they can survive. Great reading with plenty of emotion and action. well worth reading
This is every bit as good as the three earlier books, non stop action from start to finish, a mix of characters and emotions. Have your tissues ready for the ending.
