The Tombstone Conspiracy: A Western Story

Rate this book
When Confederate officer Brady Brandau returns home at the end of the war, he finds his family estate devastated and his relatives dead or missing. Deciding to continue the war in his own way he heads west, accompanied by a beautiful Confederate spy. The phantom legion that they gather in Arizona Territory cannot even be proven to exist, but their mayhem has a serious impact on the mining community around Tombstone. Tombstone, meanwhile, is torn between Sheriff Johnny Behan, who some say is an ally of the outlaws, and the Earp brothers -- who do their own law enforcement.

Just tried a western for something different. The story follows a former Confederate officer out to seek revenge against the north through a series of robberies of stagecoaches carrying bullion from the goldfields in the Arizona territory. He is followed by a secret service agent and an operative from the
Wells Fargo organisation. There are all the ingredients of a western, shoot outs, hold-ups, battles with native Americans and of course a love interest.

A good paced novel with plenty of excitement. You can almost feel the sand in your throat and no water as the characters cross the arid desert country. Much better than I expected. 3 stars
