First and foremost let me just say, that I love a good old school Italian love story!
There is nothing truly like that 1970's Italian mentality in this day and age.

I received this free copy and in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot stop thinking about Elvira and Michael!
Their chemistry was undeniable and I truly just loved them both as characters, especially together.
It's almost like you can feel and see the old soul in them through the pages. I think for his first novel, Anthony did a great job with the portrayal of these characters but especially Michael. I have a feeling that the author is similar to him in real life.

I don't get weepy or any type of emotional when I read love stories or romances but this one hit the spot for me. It was so personable, and I think this one will stick with me for a long time.

I was really surprised with this novel! Just a great story, with wonderful characters.. it was laugh out loud funny at times, sad & joyful.. it is really like an old fashioned "love story" with a modern twist & two quirky people... first time I can say "I can see this as a movie".. well written, by a male no less! I tend to think it was also somewhat autobiographical... but who knows, it was a pleasure to read!!

Beautifully written

The author really did an amazing job on grasping the idea of true love. This is the first book I’ve read in a while that I truly came to tears in the end from. I loved the mix of passion, the witty humor, the intensity and the overall emotions expressed between Michael and Elvira. Beautifully written and very talented. Will definitely recommend to many!

I received a free copy of this book almost a year ago from the publicist Jennifer Musico in exchange for an honest review. I saved it in an external hard disk and completely forgot about it.
Hopefully, the copy I received is not the final product because it is in dire need of good editing....

Chose this book since it was based in New York, in the 1970s, and the character was a second-generation ethnic whose life paralleled my own family. It was an enjoyable read as he met his love interest and began to realize what he had. I found it difficult to complete the book once she left for California as a lot of the writing was repetitive.
Still, a solid book from the authour.

Finding Forever

Enjoyed reading. As a woman who grew up in New York, I wish there were more New York references and a lot less religion involved. If I could edit those out it would have been 5stars!

DNF I grew up in this neighborhood and enjoyed the mention of familiar things and places. I really wanted to like this book but I got 1/2 way through and just couldn’t get through it. Didn’t care for the characters. Skipped to the last chapter and called it a day.

I received an advanced physical copy of this book in exchange for a review. Thank you to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

First and foremost, I really adore the cover of this book. It really does give the idea of a seventies story. The whole premise of the story I actually did enjoy. I can't get the song Elvira out of my head any time I read the name of the main female character. That's a good thing, because I love that song. And maybe I'm thinking of Elvira Mistress of Darkness too - I'm getting side tracked.

As much as I adored the cover and the whole concept of the story, I was not overly fond of the writing style or the main protagonist, Michael.

Based in the seventies, Michael was completely humiliated in a coffee shop after finding out that his girlfriend was cheating on him - yeah, she announced it in front of everybody, can we say bitch? Yes, we can.

Well, Michael sees his ex and her new lover in the coffee shop one day and Michael decides (rather stupidly) to confront the guy and winds up being punched. Elvira, witnessing the whole display, offers to help get him cleaned up at her place. There's an instant connection between the two, but Elvira isn't going to go into it full on that easily (good for you).

Michael falls for this woman so hard and he's highly understanding at Elvira's hesitance and not being full on trusting as he is. Michael sort of recalls how his parents treat each other as he was growing up - his father is highly critical and sometimes abusive, while his mother is sweet.

Michael and Elvira have ambitions that they are afraid to reach for. Michael is fired from his accounting job, but truly dreams of writing - much to his father's dismay. Elvira wants to go into psychology but enjoys the arts just as much as Michael if not more.

You're wondering...why aren't you a fan of Michael? He seems so sweet and the perfect guy for Elvira. Of course, he is, but he can also be a bit of a man child. I won't spoil the reasoning why. Although, him cooking her dinner was really sweet. Everybody should know how to cook at least basic things, I'm just saying.

My main complaint was the writing style. The writing felt like I was told something rather than shown, and I felt it was more repetitive than anything - such as the narrator introducing the reader to the name of the full character BEFORE the main character even gets it - feels off. I'm also not a religious person and I felt like this was starting to be more and more christian based than anything - I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it's just not my thing.

The story also reads like a Hallmark movie in print - though, I think this would have made a very interesting movie.

I can totally see Emmy Rossum as Elvira - Michael would be difficult to cast - I'll have to get back to you on that.

All in all, the book was enjoyable for what it was; a 70s story where two people find each other in different ways.

Very poorly written and the main character is controlling and kind of misogynistic.

This was a quick read. Not a lot of depth. Halfway through it, I was ready for it to be done.
