Thunder Ridge was a sleepy little town until the man they called “Mad Jack” Morgan came back from Mexico to claim the ranch that had passed into the hands of a landgrabber through trickery. The hatred that sprang up between Jack Morgan and Mike Cloud started with the land dispute, but it got worse when a woman became involved. They both wanted Rose Thornton and were willing to kill to get her. Thunder Ridge, once a quiet town in spite of its name, braced itself for the explosion. It could end only one way – with Morgan or Cloud lying dead in the street.
Thunder Ridge is a fairly typical western written by Ben Thompson and published by Centurion Publishing, of whom I have struggled to find much information, in 1978.
Mad Jack Morgan has returned to the titular town of Thunder Ridge to claim back his ranch which was stolen by a land grabber through trickery.
Throw in an attractive woman that several of the male characters have their eye on, a dodgy sheriff and plenty of action and you have an exciting, though pretty predictable, western.
