Professor Hot Pants

Ryan

My mom always told me that I was better than random hookups but she was a drug addict, what did she know. Sex fulfilled a need in me. I'm not your average college student, but like many students I have one professor I fantasize about. Professor Marks is a great big no-no in the hookup department, so why can't I stay away?

Philip

I'm a professor of psychology at the University. Being in my position, it was necessary to keep him at a distance. But, he's slowly becoming an obsession of mine, the sexual tension between us is stifling. Now, we are expected to work together when all I want to do is bend his ass over the table. How will I be able to keep my hands to myself?

Can an unexpected ally bring these two people together and teach them the meaning of family?

Another amazing read from this author. I loved seeing Ryan's side to some of the events from DJ Hot Pants.

From the student- teacher relationship, to helping those in need the author kept me wanting more and I was always looking forward to what would happen next.

Ryan and Philip know they should ignore what’s burning between them but can’t ignore it as Philip is Ryan’s professor. Ryan more so than Philip thinks they should throw caution to the wind and give in to the lust but the professor is trying his hardest to be professional. There was a fifteen year age gap, but where love’s concerned, age doesn’t matter. Ryan and Phillip were perfect for each other.

I look forward to reading Daddy Hot Pants.

Trigger Warnings: Child Abuse, Rape, graphic imaginary.

Talk about a book that will grab your heart and break it into a million pieces and then turn around and put you back together again. More the once. This book is a book that describes exactly what happens to some in real life but is not based off of actual events.

It is wrong for a student and a professor to be involved. It is wrong in the eyes of so many but when you meet that person you are meant to be with, sometimes right and wrong are not what matters. Sometimes what matters most is happiness you can find in a world full of so much hate and evil.

Ryan is a student in college. He is the type of person that does not get involved in relationships with neither man or woman. He has a fierce rule for himself of no repeats. For some reason he believes that this is the best course of action for him especially since he does not believe in love.

But when he realizes the professor that he has been fantasizing about also has the hots for him as well, well Ryan cannot help to pursue things between them even though he knows he is putting them both in danger of getting caught. If they was to get caught then not only could Ryan lose his scholarship but Philip could lose his job as a professor as well.

After Ryan’s mother is killed, Ryan decides he needs to go to a meeting where others know the same type of pain that he is and has gone through with his addict mother. To his surprise, Philip is the one who leads the group that he went to. But more then that, Ryan and Philip both, their lives are about to take a major change when Ryan meets a little girl named Abby at this meeting. Abby approached Ryan to offer her sympathy for his loss but in a remarkable bout of trust, opens up to Ryan about what has been happening to her.

This is a book that is such an emotional read. You will be on a complete emotional roller coaster the whole way though this book. I found myself crying, becoming angry, heartbroken, and smiling throughout this read. As I said, complete emotional roller coaster. This is definitely a book I would highly recommend to others to read so long as none of the triggers above affect you. I definitely look forward to more books by Ember-Raine Winters in the future.

The writing was easy to follow but sometimes not completely fluid. I appreciated getting the prologue with Ryan. It helped me understand his character better and piece together the first interaction between him and the other MC, Philip.

During that first interaction, I wondered where the bold and kind of jerky Ryan was. By the end of that short introduction to the two of them together, we see the Ryan we met in the prologue shine through. While he seems pushy and kind of a jerk at first, as the story progresses, we see a softer side of him.

There was a lot going on in this book. A lot of different angles that could cause drama. I am definitely okay with drama in a book, but I just wanted Ryan and even Philip to catch a break a bit. As the drama kept building, it got a little less authentic for me. I felt like this short book could easily have been spread out into a couple books so that all the drama was not packed in so heavily.

There was so much else going on that I felt I did not get to see as much as I wanted in terms of the MCs connecting and building their relationship.

So much happened that interested me and was a big contribution to the story, but then it was never addressed. For instance what happened to Ryan's mom and then later his sister. I needed more details! I also really wanted closure with the whole Candy situation. I wanted to throttle that b. And then the handling of Philip's job and Ryan's school was hard for me to understand, especially for Ryan.

Overall, the story ended super sweet and the MCs got their HEA. I was happy about that but wanted more resolution from other things in this story.

It’s emotional and crazy and beautiful in equal parts. This book is a definite keeper.

Every guy has that one teacher during their school days that they fantasized about. Professor Marks was mine.

Ember-Raine Winters manages to catch a bit of your heart and soul with her new novel, Professor Hot Pants - the deeper you wander into the lives of these two men, the less eager you are to leave.

Ryan is a student who constantly has an itch that needs scratching and with his life falling apart he finds a connection in the unlikeliest of places.

Professor hot pants himself, Philip, a psychology teacher who becomes a shoulder for one of his students, little knowing his future has a constant of happy memories staring said student.

I knew then, as he got in bed and wrapped me in his arms, that for the first time in my life, I had a real home with people who loved me and I never wanted it any other way.

The story of these two men and just how they end up where they do, is one that keeps you glued. Along with a handful of characters, they’ve managed to bring smiles and tears and more than anything, hope, to the mind of an eager reader!

Without giving too much away, the journey is as good as the destination! Just take it all in!

Rating it Five Sexy-as-Hell Stars!

I liked both Ran and Philip and enjoyed their story overall. There was more angst and drama than I expected when I picked up the book, especially concerning Abby, who is a little girl they rescue from a horrible foster situation. There seemed to be a lot going on with Ryan's family too. I felt so bad for Martha. There was a lot packed in a short book.

I'm going to say this a lot in the next couple reviews I do, but I've been on a kick and it started with Professor Hot Pants. I don't know if it's because I'm a straight white 25 year old girl, who fell in love with 18 and gets to marry her best friend (hopefully soon but wedding planning sucks), but when I read romances I tend to read about couples (well, the female anyway- I've definitely read about those age gaps and loved it) who are in their twenties, and are straight and monogamous. I don't know why, either. I had my obsession with manga (thank you, Ashley) which led to the yaoi genre (heeeey manga nerd over here- yaoi is M/M relationships) and an obsession with many mangas. One specifically I now want to re-read because one of the guys was such an alpha but they were both cute (Ash, I need names). Professor Hot Pants really made me remember my love for the genre.

Not only was this book taboo, hello teacher/student relationship, but it was about a gay couple. Both of whom had their issues, but god does Ryan have his issues. Now, to me, I really don't care. I gravitate towards novels I feel like I'll connect with on some level, and it's easier for me to connect (or so I tell myself, and then a novel comes along that reminds me that's not true) with straight cis characters (thanks tumblr!), but since I'm not gay, and I have worked hard over the years to not judge people, and I grew up in an accepting household and in a world with MySpace and Tumblr, it makes it easy for me to forget the challenges being "not normal" can face. So they were gay and breaking the rules, that's enough for a novel, right?

WRONG. It was so much more than that. It touched on the topics of child molestation, of loving someone you know you shouldn't, of drug addiction, of loving yourself so you can accept love, and opening yourself up to the possibilities. Ryan and Phillip had to make extremely difficult choices, ones no one should ever have to face, but they had to because of bigotry that we, as straight people, don't have to deal with. Are these struggles things I've dealt with? No. Are they struggles others have had to deal with? Abo-freaking-loutely. But because they were gay, it made it that much harder for them.

AND LORD HAVE MERCY, do their trials and tribulations make you fall more and more in love with them. Phillip and Ryan are so absolutely amazing, I adored every ounce of them. One of the things I remembered I loved about M/M romances, manga or otherwise, was that you're reminded that just because they're gay, doesn't mean their special just because of their orientation. They had messed up situations, definitely, but their strength was what made them special. The love they found in themselves and with each other made them special. Their sexual orientation didn't define them, it was just a part of who they were. Just like mine is. Just like yours is. It doesn't make you who you are, but it does help shape you and shape your decisions for life.

Have you figured out I'm obsessed yet? Ember made me remember why I love gay romance so much, and made me go on a kick of devouring more of them. Her characters were well rounded and continued to grow the more I read, the more I devoured. I read her book so fast, I found myself flipping the last page saying "I NEED MORE". So Ember- I NEED MORE. Extended epilogues? Another book? Anything? Please? On that note- I'm shutting up but I will say GO GET THIS BOOK. Please! Not a fan of M/M? From the bottom of my heart, and the depths of my soul: Give this a chance. You won't regret it.

You can’t be a good old dose of chemistry and UST, especially when the MC’s are doing their damnedest to try and deny their feelings for each other.

Ryan and Philip know they should ignore what’s burning between them but can’t ignore it as Philip is Ryan’s professor and even out of the university Ryan is always around due to a certain external influences. Ryan, more so than Philip, thinks they should throw caution to the wind and give in to the lust but the professor is trying his hardest to be professional. Philip really struggled with this attraction and I thought it was dealt with in a mature and thoughtful way and Ryan was far older than his years due to his experience with his mother, he’d had to be the adult in the relationship for many years prior. There was a fifteen year age gap, but where love’s concerned, age doesn’t matter. Ryan was an adult and they both knew their own minds. No-one was being taken advantage of here, in fact, I thought at times Ryan seemed the more pragmatic and experienced of the two men.

Alas, people don’t see it this way and there’s more trouble to come which causes grief and heartache for both men and a certain adorable small person. Can they overcome it and is there a future for the two of them? Give this one a try, it’s quite an emotional read―quite heartbreaking in parts―but it shows what can happen when all the odds are stacked against you and you need to fight for what you want.

I went in for the romance and got suspense and mystery and a whole lot of heat. I absolutely LOVED this fast paced story and enjoyed the ride.

From the student and the teacher relationship, to helping those in need, the author dosed this book with enough to keep the reader hanging on. It was only in reading that I felt a disconnect at one point, but it did not hinder my enjoyment. I realised then that this was a part of a series (yes, I say, I liked and I did not research).

Ryan and Phillip were perfect for each other. They navigated their want perfectly and were able to right the wrongs despite everything that was thrown their way. In a nut shell, Ryan the college student fell for his teacher and broked everyoneof his rules of going for seconds. But Phillip was irresistable and when he helped Ryan rescue a child in need, he could not help digging himself in deeper with the man. With a jealous stalker, a psychotic killer on the loose and a romance that should not be, Ryan and Phillip weathered the storm and celebrated happiness in the end.

An emotional tale from a first time author with warnings of child abuse and death, I am glad a family was made in the process.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Three and a half stars rounded up to four.
I was given an ARC of this story in return for an honest review.
This was a good book but it could have been so much more if it had a little more detail. I thought that it jumped a little too much. At times I was thinking that this was all happening a little too quickly and then a line tells me that what I had just read had occurred over a number of weeks.
It is a taboo subject in that the story concerns a professor, Philip, and one of his students, Ryan. There is a young, abused child involved who is a little too normal considering her horrific background.
I really liked the opening line to the story and it certainly promised a lot. The book didn't quite live up to this line but it is still definitely worth reading.
I am happy to recommend Professor Hot Pants.

As I read this book, my feelings about it evolved. At the very beginning, I thought it was going to by just another eyeroll worthy teacher-student sex-fest. Don't get me wrong, there isn't necessarily anything wrong with that kind of book. I was just hoping for more. I kept reading, and I got the "more" I was looking for.
Ryan and Philip try to fight their feelings for each other, but they can't stay apart. Their sex scenes are steamy. Then they meet Abby, a little girl in the foster care system who is living a nightmare, and the men step up to try to keep her safe. These three care so much for each other, even though they are continuously torn apart. The trigger warnings should definitely be heeded here. The story has violence, heartbreak, and anger. It also has family, friendship, love, and sacrifice. And most importantly, it has a very satisfactory ending.

Ryan allows him to follow pleasure with no connection but he is not prepared for his attraction to his professor. Ryan craves to be with Phillip but does not allow himself to succumb to his desires. Philip is burning like in heat wanting to posses Ryan, even knowing the consequences. They flirt and keep coming together due to similar interests. A young girl who is in need is the catalyst for them to grow their connection. They slowly let their desires, and try to keep it a secret, but a villain and other obstacles with secondary characters push them away. Luckily when Philip decides to blow caution to the wind and claims his love for Ryan. They work together to overcome the obstacles and carve out happiness for themselves. I do look forward to another MM story with a secondary character finding his HEA.

Despite the playful cover and description, this book carries an emotional punch to it that I wasn't quite ready for. Ryan is blaze about his sexual encounters, never risking his heart and that's because of who raised him more than anything else. But when the chemistry between Ryan and his professor grow, they are both willing to risk their future to be together. Philip, although a great, takes a backseat to Ryan and his story. But that saying, their chemistry is off the charts and you won't be disappointed.

Also, when they meet Abby, it adds another heartbreaking complexity to the story. The saying "don't judge a book by its cover" is completely true in this case, and if you can take some angst and triggers that are in this book, it's worth the read!

An emotional read, at times heartbreaking, but it brings together a beautiful and loving family. Ryan may only be 19 but with everything he's been through, he's really much older than his 19 years.Phillip is one of Ryan's professors and they have a very strong attraction, that at first, they try to fight. Tragedy strikes around them and they definitely have a lot of obstacles, but their openness and big hearts, not just with each other, but with others, are incredible. I especially love how fierce and protective Ryan is of Abby. It's definitely an emotional read but with a beautiful ending!

OMG. There was one moment when I thought, okay, what? But then I moved on and was unable to put it down! Ryan and Philip were a wonderful pair, for each other and within the constraints of their public roles - student and professor, respectively. I loved how they teased each other until the idea of not following through overwhelmed them and they tumbled head-first into their relationship. And then there was Abby!! The cutest, strongest, most intuitive child that absolutely made the story!
Well-written, beautifully depicted, and an absolute pleasure to read, even with the constant onslaught of trauma against the couple. But really, who doesn't love a little drama with their romance?

Professor Hot Pants is a good mix of sweet and spicy! If you never read M/M before this is the perfect book to start! It starts as a slow burn and builds into until things explode! I love how in every Ember Raine Winters book there is plenty of mystery and suspense to go along with a great love story! I loved Ryan and Phillip together! They we're both unique in their own way and both wanted to dominate in the bedroom! It was hot! I truly loved the twists and turns in this book and I hope there is more in store for these characters In future books!!

Main Characters: Ryan & Phillip

4 out of 5 stars
A professor/student May/December m/m romance with plenty of angst, suspense, chemistry & sex. What this has added into the mix is Abby. I also thought that Ryan was way more mature for his age and sometimes seemed more than Phillip. The book delves into the adoption process of same sex couples and the heartaches some of them can go through. It also has some child abuse references. I recommend it.

Phillip and Ryan are both damaged from their pasts and don’t really do relationships. Temptation proves too much between professor and student and their world blows up. This story has so much with the “good” adults trying to help and care for children who are being horrifically treated in foster care. Abby is a doll. Most of the characters have been abused in some way. The bad makes their stars shine brighter as they try to do the right things. Really good, even if very sad in places. It is integral to the story. The heat between Ryan and Phillip is almost palpable in places.

4.5* I absolutely fell in love with this book the more I read! I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in as Winters is a new to me author, but it will definitely not be the last I read of hers!

Ryan is a 19-year-old college student who had to grow up way too fast to take care of himself and his mother, who was a drug addict. Phillip is Ryan’s psychology professor. They both try to stay away from each other but life continuously throws them together and tries to keep them apart – from Al-Anon family groups to meeting and saving Abby and so much more.

This book had the perfect amount of love and angst! Both Ryan and Phillip were incredibly mature and handled their relationship and the situations life threw at them responsibly. Abby was an amazing part of this story – childhood sweetness, helping Ryan get through his previous traumas while saving her, and ultimately bringing Ryan and Phillip together and closer to their true callings.

I thought this would be a hot little piece about a professor-student romance, but it was so much more! I loved Philip and Ryan, and I fell head over heels for beautiful little Abby! This book had an awesome story with amazing plot twists and turns, although I really wanted to see what happened with Candy - I didn't feel like her part in the book was completely resolved. There was high emotional angst as well as great chemistry between Philip and Ryan. Great M/M read!

Hot for the Professor!

Ryan and Professor Hanks are one hot pair! With a 15 year age difference and Hanks being Ryan’s Professor, troubles are bound to happen. I love Ember-Raine Winters books and I feel she did an amazing job for a first time MM novel. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. I would definitely recommend this book if you love to read MM store!

While the premise was good, this was so busy, so full of so many different things, so much trauma raining down on both the men in this, that it was just too much, it felt like an overpacked, jumbled mess and things felt left undone - was this a bdsm book? It touched on that but then backed way off. Was it about abuse? Also, talked about that but then... Pick something and stay with it. Don't try to shove everything into one box.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This is really a story that makes you feel for the characters. Ryan has spent was too much of his life having to be an adult well before he should have. Philip loves his work and has never been tempted by a student until now but Ryan’s shadowed eyes really pull him in.

The little girl who pulls them together even more, Abby, is absolutely adorable and the things that have happened to her are horrible but she has the best advocates and supporters in Ryan and Philip. She really gives Ryan a reason to keep going after the death of his mother and something to focus on. Phillip has really gotten to know Abby over the years and Ryan’s connection with her brings them even closer together.

The story really touched on some hard issues but does show that it can work out, not everything needs to be negative. I got to see the story through the eyes of both Ryan and Philip so it was easy to connect with them. I still have some trouble with some of Philip’s actions that really brought them together, I just feel like he made some really dumb moves and it he was as adamant about them being apart as he said then he wouldn’t have acted the way he did. Also, the death of Ryan’s mother was never really settled to me. Both Ryan and Philip had to adjust their lives throughout the story but found it is worth it to have real love and a family.

The cover art by Heather Bryant is a nice romance cover but nothing remarkable to me.
