Author Tiffany Carby is a Kentucky native skilled in the art of storytelling. A journalist, columnist and blogger who now works in communications, she has a knack for narrative that keeps her story flowing.

Not all of her storytelling skills came from the classroom. Being born in Louisville and spending time in central and southeastern areas of the commonwealth, Carby developed a sharp ear for dialogue and an appreciation for the tales spun by friends and family from the South and Appalachia. As a Southerner, yes, she says “y’all,” drinks sweet tea and shares a love of college basketball with most of her fellow residents of the Bluegrass state.

Writing wasn’t just a goal, it was a destiny for Carby. She wrote her first book while in the fifth grade — a story about an alien with a one-of-a-kind name, Orangepeachrumple. Though it didn’t circulate farther than her parents, she was hooked. Though publishing many non-fiction works over the years, "She's a Tiger Lily" will be the debut of her fiction work and beginning of a series.

Carby resides near Lexington with her husband, curly-headed daughter, and bull-headed tabby cat.

Saving Pru, part of Streetlamps to Starlight Anthology, a 7 Kingdoms Origin Novella by Rae B. Lake was very exciting for me. I'm a huge fan of the series so far and was stoked to get a little back history on one of the characters. A small snippet that I thought might whet your appetite, fellow readers...

“I know enough Pru, I know that you have been through an ordeal and come out on top, that you were injured and still managed to fight your way back, I know…” He softened his grip on my face and I could see the mixture of want and compassion in his eyes, “...that I have never been so awestruck by a woman in my life. You inspire me to keep moving forward in life. I would never let them take you from me. Never.”

This is Pru and Jeb’s story. After losing everything, Jeb turns up and rescues her. I loved seeing Pru again and Jeb really is the perfect match for her. They fit so well in the bedroom my kindle started to melt. In such a short story, we are given action, romance, devastation, murder, and much more.

This author never fails to amaze me. Her imagination is fascinating and her character building certainly on par. Highly recommended and a great addition to a fantastic series. Waiting on bated breath for the next book!

I'm a long time fan of Rae B. Lake and her work. She amazed me even more with this short story, Saving Pru. We learn so much more about Pru, her desires, her background and I'm loving it. Pru is joined by a fun and imaginative character, Jeb, who fits with her just right. The rapport has your heart beating faster. On top of all this, you have pirates. What more could you ask for? Rae I'm a fan for life.

Saving Pru
I completely enjoyed reading Saving Pru. When a ship comes into port the whole town turns up to see who it is....they wern't expecting pirates- well not these sort.
Without giving anything away, this short story tells Pru's story, and the events that occurred after the ships passengers disembarked.

Lot of really good stories but my favorite is Saving Pru by Rae Lake. Masterfully written story, great depth of characters and very organic flow. I could not stop reading it, once I started this story I could not put it down. I had all the feels, I loved it, hated it and cursed her while reading it.

My review is for Love And The Law by Alexie Bolton - This is a wonderful read that will transport you through time itself. I immediately delved into the book and soon found that time had passed without me. Fantastic read.
