I bought this book as gifts for my kids and some family members. The book does have some sentimental value to me that was why I had originally purchased it. After reading the book and all that G.D. did for the bands he met and all the shows he set up it was an eye opener. I recommend this book for anyone that is interested in going into any aspect of the music business. Great book. Great stories. LOVED IT.

Truth be told, I know next to nothing about bands, music production and the world that Gregg writes about. That made reading his book all the more exciting as it opened another very different world to me. The book is written from the heart and memory of a person who loves music and whose experiences flow seamlessly from event to event and through all the intricacies of the industry. I found myself quickly turning the pages to see how yet another problem was solved, personality was massaged and event was planned, performed and then taken away.
Gregg is a natural story teller and his choice of words is perfect whether telling a story or explaining the blue-print for an event. His memory really brings everything to life; and at times it feels like you can hear the music, feel the tension, see the characters come to life and even imagine being squished in as part of the roaring crowd. His writing is captivating.
Best of all he is honest, believable, clear and made me feel that I was with him at the events he described. He brought me with him and I feel that I just experienced a new and VERY different world.
I loved it!

Babysitting a Band on the Rocks is one of the best Rock n Roll books that I’ve read in a long time. For me it’s right up there with Keith Richard’s “Life”. Gregg’s behind the scenes perspective is unique and adds a level of detail that most R’n’R books leave out. Very highly recommended!

3.5 stars. Really enjoyable read with some crazy behind the scenes stories of some of my favorite bands. Loved reading about Long Island and the music scene it had happening in the 70’s and 80’s too

Praetorius’s memoir of life on the road with bands that weren’t always at the top of their game is a sometimes sad, sometimes hysterically funny trip through the late-night underbelly of rock’s golden age. It wasn’t always pretty, but it makes for quite a page-turner. Highly recommended.

For the rock fan, this book gives a unique view into the behind the scenes goings ons of the exciting world that you've already heard so much about. For the none rock fan it offers a view of this world you know exists, but have not had any reasonable access to - access you will find enjoyable and intriguing without suffering through the usual pablum offered up as fodder to the masses.

GDP offers his unique eye and intellect, observing with honesty and true love of the medium. Hopefully he has more stories to share in the future!
