Do you know how many book this author wrote?? A LOT!!!! And do you know why most ppl don’t know about these books? Because they’re freaking awful!! I didn’t think an MM author can be homophobic but here we are . And I don’t mean homophobic as in she’s against queer ppl but as in she perpetuates so many expired and wrong (clichés) stereotypes about gay ppl (like if you’re a bottom you’re the woman or if you top is not that gay hahahhahaha , sorry I shouldn’t be cracking up because it’s kind of sad. The sex scenes are the absolute worse sex scenes I’ve ever read , I swear , their first time (gay virgins) being like this : hands and knees, the guy puts lube on his dingaling and sticks it in. No foreplay , no prep, no touching. What’s worse is that they were ALL like this!! All the sex scenes!! I was intrigued about the plot because 2 straight guys, hating each other because they were both courting the same woman , get locked up on the roof during a wedding and they fall for each other. Sounds good right? Sounds freaking awesome! I admit there were parts I liked (hence my 2 stars) like Albert .. I liked him for the most part of the book even though he was an idiot but I liked that he was a nester and a nurturer and he was smitten with Doug even when Doug hurt him a lot by refusing to be with him despite the fact that he was happy when he was with Albert- he kept clinging to his heterosexual label.
Anyway the book is bad like every other book I’ve read by this author. The banter and dialogues are inane (Dude, you’re gay? No but you can suck my dick. Are YOU gay? No but I can suck you dick. Dude , that’s so gay!” - 36 years old are these dumb and dumber frat-bros) , the sex is bad and the guys are kind of morons (as shown above) .

Non mi piace.

This story had potential to be really good. It was supposed to be hilarious or, at the very least, funny. It was neither. And I'm one of those annoying people who find humor in almost everything so that should tell you something in and of itself. I did laugh two different times, if that counts. There were situations that could have been extremely funny if not for how the author chose to write the story.

As I was reading, I kept wondering if this was a novice author who hadn't found their groove yet. Since it appears Hauser has written more than 100 books, the lack of depth and finesse was surprising.

The characters themselves were juvenile. They were constantly saying, "dude," "bro," "yo!" and "amazeballs." In 35 and 38 year old men? Non sono impressionato.
Albert rolled him over and smiled at him, "Dude!"
"Dude!" Douglas echoed and laughed.

* There were many times--many, many times--where this happened:
"Are you gay?"
"No, are you?"
"I'm not gay."
"I'm not either.""
"You're gay."
"No I'm not."
"I'm not either."

That stupid back and forth happened even after they'd had sex.

* Speaking of sex,
Douglas had just laid down on the bed when Albert "advanced on Douglas before they came to their senses.
With his arm propping him up, Albert aimed his cock at Douglas' ass. Douglas reached for it, putting the slick head against his rim. Albert thrust in.
"Fuck!" Douglas balled his fists and his toes curled.
"Oh, my God." Sweat broke out on Albert's skin and he couldn't quit if he wanted to. Going out of his mind, craving a climax in a tight hole, Albert braced both arms on the bed and didn't stop until he came. The sensation overwhelmed Douglas. He had no idea what to expect. But, whatever he was experiencing, it wasn't the same thing that Albert was...Before he shoved Albert off, not sure what was happening to him, Albert came...."Did ya like it?" Albert asked in excitement.

It was painful just to read the sex scene. So FUCK NO Douglas didn't enjoy it! No prep, no foreplay, no easing into it, nothing. Other than those with a pain kink, who would enjoy what amounts to a teenager's first fumblings?

All sex scenes happened in the missionary position (which could have been sexy and emotionally-charged but, God forbid there be sexy naked fun times with emotion!). There was no mention of soreness or pain. No descriptions or discussions about how to go about doing this or ensuring pleasure of the partner. No mention by the author of either MC doing "gay research" (which would have been an honest-to-god funny scene to add in!).
In hindsight, I wonder if the author is either uncomfortable envisioning and describing sex between two men or, if she just sucks ass at detailed descriptions of sex in general. (Nerd humor--get it? Sucks ass at sex scenes? Ha!).

* I'm not someone who is overly-sensitive to negative comments about--or portrayals of--women. So it took me a while to catch on to the pattern but, all women in this book (and there were multiple women) were empty-headed, catty, sneaky, manipulative, overly-aggressive bitches. In every scene that involved a female, she was portrayed as an empty-headed, self-involved princess, a user, narcissistic, and/or a backstabber to friends.

* In the second half of the book there were three or four scenes that would tease us with the beginnings of some honest emotion. Then, a mere two or three sentences later, the author would ruin it by returning to juvenile and/or report-style writing. In a sex scene, "This learning curve, the strangeness had left. What replaced it was a sense of calm and trust that Douglas had never felt with anyone before." And before we can explore Doug's newfound feelings or get caught up in an actual emotional connection, the author is all, Psyche! Ha-ha. Fooled you! Because with the next sentence, we switch back to Albert's stupid POV with: "Sucking Douglas' dick. Not weird anymore..."

* They also called each other "dude" or "buddy" during sex. Seriously??
"Oh, fuck yeah." He shivered and kissed the inside of Douglas' knees, gaining complete penetration.
"Oh, buddy." Douglas moaned and pulled on his glistening dick. "That's intense."

No. What's intense(!!!), is my fucking annoyance at every goddamned scene being ruined by being jerked back in time to a 1980's stoner movie starring Keanu Reeves and Sean Penn!

* Speaking of Keanu & Sean (and since I remember this issue bothers some readers): No condoms were used in the making of Bill & Ted's Excellent Homosexual Adventure.

* And the last straw for me: First time Albert tells Douglas that he loves him, he's feeling awkward because he didn't mean to say it out loud. Doug's response, "Bro? I love you, too."

* At the end of the book, two things happened (didn't happen?):
1.) Diego said he wanted to introduce them to somebody but that didn't happen.
2.) The book just ended in a huge rush.
And I was all, did the author get called away when she was finishing the last chapter? Did she come back and either think she'd written something she hadn't or worse--decide how she'd left it was good enough and so she just hit "submit?" Cause that's how it read.

And so, I've finished this book and my mind keeps going back to the excellent reviews.
I don't get it.

Ciao,
Wycked

[READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL. IT MAY OR MAY NOT CONTAIN SPOILER.]

The first few chapters were boring. It's like reading a horny boy's thought. And really? A model that stayed celibate because she wanted to wait until marriage. I mean, I have nothing against it. It's people's choices. But, how do you even do it while working as a model which we knew are surrounded by amazeballs people.

So, Albert was sexually frustrated because his model girlfriend wanted to wait until marriage. He did not even get a full on kiss; just a peck on the lips. Him being loyal to one partner, rendered him incapable of seeing other people. And to top it off, he got a love rival in the form of a tall rich smoking hot dude. Albert could hold his own fort but, no matter what, he'll lose in the money department.

The story got interesting when these men got trapped on a rooftop with only one exit which could be open from the other side. They were hungry, cold and horny. So, jokingly, they talked about doing each other. Only, Albert was dead serious about it. For the first time he was seeing a new side of his love rival, Douglas, and he liked it.

The smexy part however was silly. The writer need to read more MxM book because I don't even think the guys knew what they were doing. At least made Albert read or watch gay porn first because he was the one more interested in this relationship.

Overall, it was nice. It have huge potential. And with some editing, it could be the best.

Fun relationship, but bad sex

There were parts of this book that made me laugh out loud, and parts that I had a really hard time buying into. Overall, it was ok, but the sex actually sort of ruined the story for me.

I just don't buy that two completely straight guys can deep throat one another on their first try, or that Douglas felt no pain from his first anal experience after almost no prep - and no mention of prostates being discovered.

I LOVEDIT!!!!

What a hoot! The title isn't exactly true. 😏 G.A. Hauser did make up this sh*t and it is hilarious. I absolutely loved this glib, funny, toe in the water before diving into the deep end romp into a very satisfying HEA. I
Whenever I need a cheer me up read, this will be at the top of my read again list!
A MUST read!

Well....

This was one of the most awkward books I have read. It sort of made me feel, I don’t know, like I needed to take a bath. The characters weren’t anyone I could relate to, and that may be because they really weren’t that fleshed out. There just wasn’t much substance here.

“Are you gay?”
“No, are you?”

Finding a good book from random choice was really something!

The cover of the book successfully caught my coverslut eyes for it simplicity but looks unique. The blurb didn't give much information about the story but successfully grew my curiosity and expectations because my over creative brain automatically picturing the naughty possibilities that will happen when two straight guys accidentally trapped together.
I mean it's MM genre and what possibly could happen when two straight guys trapped together, right?

I start this book with huge expectations and excitement, and feels so glad that the book turned out to be such a great reading.

This book caught me from page one until the very last page. It's very entertaining, funny and consuming enough reading Douglas and Albert journey in finding the truth about their feeling. BUT there's also few things that quite annoyed me while reading this book. The constant repetition of “Are you gay?” - "No, are you?" - "I'm not gay." - "I'm not either." - "You're gay." - "No I'm not." - "I'm not either." - almost the whole reading feels kinda fun at first, but when the repetition last until the very end of the book it turned a bit annoying tho'.

Another part that offense me is the sex without proper preparation (when the both MC practically still have virgin ass and I can imagine how uncomfortable sex with no proper preparation is!). Add the constant sex without protection that maybe for some reader look so sexy but for me, it's looks stupid enough especially when both MC never aware or asking about their health conditions! (Let's comparing the story with one of YA book I just finished right before I start this book, when the two MC which age around sexteen-ish but very aware of safe sex practice by using condom in every sex activities they do even when they do the blowjob!!). For two straight guys who just ‘explore’ their new ‘wake up' in their sexuality, both MC seems to looks very ‘expert’ with gay sex and ‘know everything’ (well, except for the 'preparation' part!!). I think it will be look way more sensible IF the author put a scene where at least showing one of the MC googled about all they ‘gay sex things' to fill the loopholes.

The story itself actually quite good with the fast pace and naughty banters between Douglas and Albert were really entertaining.
Well, to be honest I must admit that I have mixed feelings about this book. Overall, it's entertaining enough to enjoy, but definitely with some notes here and there. But still, I WILL recommended this book to you as fun & light reading. Because I have fun time reading this enemies to lovers-Gay for you story!

Competing for the same woman... just to end up together. Surprisingly, not the first time I read a book with this trope. Not surprisingly, it went just about as well. Except... maybe even worse?

There are many layers to a book, perhaps, but one of the most basic is the MC's. Build them right and you get a third of the job done. Liking the characters is really the most basic expectation with any book. Or is that too much to ask? Because Albert and Douglas? Are morons. And jerks. And I am not sure I liked them very much at any point in the book except maybe the very last chapter/pages.

I would even go as far as to say the whole plot is a jerk. If that makes sense. The whole... environment and style are pretty jerk-ish. The romance is a disaster...

I kind of keep reading books I should have put down and quit. I am fond of the motto "unless you can say something nice, no need to say anything at all" even if that's not always the best approach with reviews - some people won't like certain books and negative reviews can help you determine if you are one of those people.

To get back to the book, I also was not a fan of this whole crude, manly man vibe it had going on at certain points. I am biased because I don't swear like... ever, but I do like some swear words when used right. This was more like listening to one of those youngins whose every second word would be bleeped - not literally, just had a similar effect on me.

It's a book for straight guys, maybe? Because only someone like that wouldn't cringe at the stuff coming out of their mouths and their problems. *Sigh*

Okay, I don't think I have anything more intelligent (or not so intelligent) to say. Suffice to say, this is not my kind of novel.

DNF.

Yes, you can make this sh*t up. It seems very unrealistic. Grown men talked like teenagers obsessed with the word "dude".

There was a lot of " I'm not gay but you can suck my dick." At first it appears as mere denial that some men experience after realising their interested in men especially when they've been with women all their lives. The denial was plausible. However, that denial became comical.

There was a lot of "Dude! Are you gay? I'm not gay, but maybe you can suck my dick." *the other one intimately touches him* " Dude, what are you doing? You're so gay."

Let me save you the trouble of reading the entire book or at least the 3/4 that I read.

Well that's as far as I got. You're welcome.

Fantastic I loved this book. From start to finish the MCs had me glued to the pages even stay up late at night to read. Loved the start of this and especially when there're stuck outside in a situation with no help. Their conversations I thought were funny even when there serious, both guys have no clue and they bond together whether they want to or not.  Two straight men with a insta-touch storyline only Ms Hauser can write an amazing book. There first sexy scenes where, well not really educated in prep having no clues I'm sure it would've hurt, ouch.
Albert 38 yrs worked in a finance company and was set to go on a date with Maria.  Albert knew he had competition with Douglas.
Maria was a sexy model and loved to live on her phone.
Douglas 25 yrs was a bit of a playboy celebrity with money's and vying for Maria's attention.
Things go haywire when they attend a wedding..ooops..😉

I nearly didn’t finish reading this book after reading the first few chapters. Every sentence started with “Albert” it drove me nuts!
But I skimmed a few pages and then I kind of got into it. I gave it 4 stars because it was sweet. But in reality it is probably 3 stars because it could have been so much more!!!! Grrrrr!!!!

The MC’s thought like 20 something year olds and not the 38 & 35 they were supposed to be. That frustrated me a bit. Also the hot scenes were meh! For seemingly straight guys who had never had anal it all slipped in so easily *chortles*

All in all I was happy with the sweetness of it all because I live for such but left me wanting more depth to it.

I couldn't connect with this book, the MC's felt really immature and were over the top and set in their ways (you gay, no i'm not are you? and buddy and dude were mentioned a lot in this book and this for men in their mid/late thirties)
I didn't feel the attraction they suppose to have and to me that is a big no in a romance.
The idea is great but that's it so not for me. Moving on to (hopefully) better reads.

Watching these guys stumble and argue through their attraction was too funny. Albert, a straight laced acct. and Doug, a real estate dealer are getting on each others nerves dating the same spoiled rich girl when the bizarre happens. They both get trapped on a roof in the pouring rain together, let the strangeness begin..lol

Just meh. It's not as bad as some of the reviews try to make it out to be, but they definitely have a point about the sex being unbelievable (in the literal sense, not the hyperbolic one!).

Uffff...

DNF. So juvenile. I don’t know how one of the main characters was supposed to be 38 when they both acted like teenagers...
