Join in as C. N. Phillips paints a kingpin story the way it has never been done before. To some it will be a beautiful mural; to others it will be a brutal massacre.

Ever since he was a child, the only thing Cyril Anderson wanted was to be down with his brother Cane's crew. Cane Anderson, leader of the notorious Bankroll Crips, was invincible--or so Cyril thought.
On the night of Cyril's initiation, things take a terrible turn and leave Cane lying dead in a pool of his own blood. Now the leader of a blood-thirsty gang, there is only one thing that Cyril wants to seek revenge.
When he learns that the man behind Cane's death is none other than Arnell "Dubb" Lewis, the current kingpin of Los Angeles, it is up to Cyril to figure out why. He begins a bloody journey to redemption with a heart as black as the night sky and a team of loyal hitters behind him.

Easy, fast read. Not my cup of tea. It was a book club, book. I didn't like the language (M**** F*****, N****', etc.) and the sexual details. The storyline and plot were okay.

THIS INSTALLMENT OF CARLWEBER'S KINGPINS: LOS ANGELES SEEMED TO REPRESENT & CAPTURE THE LIFE OF L.A. & THE GANGLIFE BETTER THAN OTHER BOOKS THAT ATTEMPTED TO TELL THIS TALE, & WE HAVE MS. C.N. PHILLIPS TO THANK FOR THAT!
I ADMIRED CAIN & CYRIL'S BROTHERHOOD WAS SADDENED WHEN THEY WERE VIOLENTLY PERMANANTLY SEPARATED.
THE SEX SCENES WERE ALRIGHT, MAKING THIS INSTALLMENT MORE TOLERABLE THAN THE OTHERS.
THOUGH THE STORYLINE DID NOT END IN THIS WAY, THIS BOOK REMINDED ME A BIT OF THE WEST COASTER ALLSTARS MUSIC VIDEO RELEASED IN THE 90'S TITLED "WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME GANG", WHICH WAS AN ATTEMPT TO DISSUADE PEOPLE IN THE HOOD FROM JOINING VIOLENT GANGS.
I LIKED THE BOOK..... & THE MUSIC VIDEO IT REMINDED ME OF!

The characters were great as I was reading I felt like feel what they were going through! The bond between Cane, Cyril and Nine was beyond brotherhood and the trust they have was so close and loving. They all loved Nanny Lu to the moon and back! I was happy that Dub jealous ways caught up with him. There are so many interest points in this book it is a good read!

I am living this series. It is based on the life of two brothers who are living that life. There is violence, love, and betrayal. Gangsters can find love too. The Kingpin series is a good series if you like those types of books.

I loved it.

Very good read. I was really sad to see Cane die so early, but Nine and Taya, and Rell showed up and showed out. Nothing like family. ☺
