When Blake Evans set out to locate his old friend Hank Lane, he expected to find Hank breaking ground on a silver mine he had won in a poker game. What he found instead was a hangman's noose with Hank's name on it for the next morning. There was only one thing for Blake to get Hank out of there, even if it meant blowing up the jail in the process. As they made their escape, Hank swore his innocence, claiming he had been unjustly accused of leading a massacre of a troop of soldiers. Then, as quickly as they had escaped, Hank and Blake were recaptured, and suddenly both of them were caught in the middle of an elaborate scheme of theft and murder, in which the threat of the gallows was only the beginning of their problems.
