This is by far the most interesting nonfiction book I have ever read. It's fascinating to read the memories of someone who lived through a war when life was so different, and combatants were able to communicate to each other while sharing the same country of origin, lifestyle, and native language. One of the most interesting parts of this book is when, years after the conclusion of the war, Cooper runs into Confederate veterans he had a firefight with and they amicably reminisced about how they... barely missed blowing each other's brains out.

Truly a fascinating time period, and hopefully one we maintain the lessons of and never repeat.

Diary of life in prisons

This is a diary of a man live in prisons in 1800s. Although this is already old book, we could learn about suffering of prisoners here which still not obsolete in modern ages on some cases.
