I saw this at my local thrift store, and thought I'd totally read a book about a public relations man. I saw an inscription and figured it had been a gift probably (didn't look closely). Only when I was reading the book did I notice that it is actually signed by Henry C. Rogers himself (not personally - it says something like 'hope you enjoy it'). That and the fact that the book's been very read (the spine is loose) makes me wonder exactly what has been its past (I will never know, but it definitely has one). ......... Rogers was not only extremely successful, but he began working as a 'press agent' in 1939. He dealt with all the stars of Hollywood's Golden Era. His tales of HUAC and the Blacklisting that went on is very well done, so interesting to read a first person account. He talks about what he does and how, and has a lot of interesting stories. .........
Like how even though he worked with Joan Crawford from early on (he had insight), he is fully on the side of Joan's adopted daughter Christina Crawford (writer of Mommie Dearest). Interesting.
