Absolutely fantastic! A beautiful, heart-felt read. Gives you an excellent perspective of the lost generation and how the war affected everyone, not just the soldiers. Shows that ALL the soldiers were affected, including the soldiers from Germany, who are normally portrayed as the antagonists of world war novels.
Remarque's "All Quiet on the Western Front" earns a well-deserved 4.5-star rating for its poignant portrayal of the psychological toll of war. Through the eyes of young German soldier Paul Bäumer, readers are immersed in the harrowing realities of trench warfare during World War I. Remarque's anti-war message resonates powerfully, making this novel a timeless classic that continues to captivate and provoke thought.
Quite a thrill to discover the conditions and the struggle, very relatable. Experience of hatred and the quotes differentiating State and Home country made an impression.
I had heard the title of this book a hundred times, and decided to go ahead and read it. I listened to it as a well-performed audio book. I thought the book powerful, very well written. It was a times slightly repetitive, but I didn't have a problem with that. The characters were interesting to me. They were portrayed honestly. I would recommend the book. I would not call it entertainment, but more political literature.
