Leila Davis’ life is hurled into a world of chaos when her daughter Iris goes missing after being caught in a rash of kidnappings that spread through the city; snatched away by something that defies reason. Soon, Leila finds herself tangled in a world of myth and horror.
The police suspect her, but a mysterious detective, Maddox, is the first to believe her story. He takes a keen interest in her case, and the two work together in an attempt to defy the odds and bring Iris home. But Maddox’s secrets run deeper than the scars of his flesh...
Now it’s a race against time as they try and stop who, or what, took her.
Will they find Iris in time?

Alright, so. You see "erotica" in genre tags, immediately you think "oh no, that means these characters are going to just instantly fall for each other and it's going to be a lot of nonsensical moments and steamy moments". It's a long thought, but what can I say?
And sure, attraction is instantaneous. Sure, falling into each other's arms - repeatedly and graphically - happens, just as the genre tag promises.
But my god is this not "just" romance or erotica. It's horror and drama first and foremost. The story reads easily and entertainingly, easy to pick up, but don't be fooled.
There are moments that really are "peek through your fingers", "churning nausea", levels of horror. Bone-deep, visceral horror. I cannot emphasize this enough, because the author really sucker punches you with it. "You think you're safe, WHAM". But it's not overdone, and it doesn't overstay its welcome or linger with an almost fetish-y glee like some horror I've seen out there.
And surprisingly, the core relationship is exactly that - a surprise. It flips some of the tropes you'd expect, adds in some refreshing elements, and overall ends up being a lot of fun to read. (Also, yes, the erotica elements are good haha.) It's not all heaving bosoms and perfect people, only a little heaving.
This book has good potential BUT I prefer my books to have more of a storyline than smut, this was more smut with a sprinkle of a plot iykyk.
I found it odd how she (although relatable) seen him in a monster form and was suddenly fine with it from that to going a tad insane (understandable with what she was going through) but to straight up loving this man not having spent time with him and missing him. Like girl you have a missing childddd, would’ve been better to maybe have his POV what he went through and how he got her back rather than him just showing up with the girl.
The kid just went into a background character which I wouldn’t mind if they were going on a mission to stop the evil and not just going at it like rabbits you know?
