This book of poetry has a lot of pain, emotional and physical. The poet, as author of 7 Day Confessions, shares painful memories. The malaise is manifested in expressing being a victim of sexual abuse, as an example. Indeed, growing up in the ghetto is not easy. Having AIDS is a battle to be reckoned with. Experiencing pain is numbed by the excessive use of alcohol and drugs. This is what happens when one lives in the ghetto. And because of this, religious doubt creeps in. But in the end, the love for God is stronger. The author of this book uses poetry in order to deal with the malaise. I recommend this book.7 Day ConfessionsJay Butler
