FOREWORD by Mark Hubbell, Northwest Area Director, Prison Fellowship - - - Betrayal, the barrel of a gun, and a jail cell. A true story fraught with drama, wrapped in humor, and filled with the miraculous intervention of God. Because she refused to testify against her husband for actions she had already forgiven, Diana Weinberger, a former missionary, was incarcerated in an Idaho jail — a jail in which she had volunteered for a year in prison ministry! Diana's marriage was on the rocks. Years of wandering from her Christian roots had led this former YWAM missionary down paths she would later regret. She and her husband, both successful career professionals, divided their time between the world of work and the world of play — a world of bikers and wild parties. By day, Diana was a respected court reporter, her husband, Larry, the owner of a flourishing dental laboratory. But weekends had them on the road with questionable companions and too much alcohol. Lonely and desperate, Diana made a choice one night that would haunt her and lead to catastrophe a decade later. Now she found herself in a courtroom on the other side of the bench from where she had tapped out court proceedings, and then in a cell within the very facility where she had led women's Bible studies. She would not testify against Larry when he was arrested for domestic violence, and, to her dismay she learned that "spousal privilege" did not necessarily apply in this case. Her career and her ministry were in jeopardy, as well as her personal safety behind bars. Would God bring good from the choice she had made from her conscience? Would her forgiving heart win mercy for herself, her husband and her future? Join Diana as she struggles through the dark days that led to incarceration and redemption. Follow her as she learns that God can turn the direst circumstances to His glory.
I’m a strong believer in the power of story to change lives, and When Mountains Don’t Move will surely impact readers in a big way. I was touched and impressed by the author’s willingness to be vulnerable in sharing the truth about her personal journey. With a touch of appropriate humor, this true tale is a great example of how anyone—including those involved in a form of ministry—can make a decision that can damage relationships, affect careers, and turn one’s life upside down. But, this book is also about redemption and hope that is available when we’re willing to seek it. I highly recommend soaking in all the blessings the pages have to offer.
Absolutely loved this book. Diana's personal memoir is an inspiration on many levels. She shows us how when we fail God terribly and suffer those consequences, if we truly repent and turn back to Him, God is able to turn our consequences into new avenues to serve Him that we never thought possible.
This has to be the best written book I have collected from Amazon. Diana Weinberger is a talented author with a powerful message. I loved the inclusion of the Bible verses. Diana kept me truly engaged from the beginning . I ecpected that there would be parts that would lag due to the innate nature of a biography. Not so. Weinberger is a talented writer that knows how to appeal to a reader. And her message was so valuable. How can I trust the Lord when my life is falling to pieces around me? Bravo Diana Weinberger not only did you walk through fire but you led the way for others.
What an amazing story of God’s love. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It touched my heart and soul. This is a must read if you feel unworthy in this world. Redemption comes to all in this story of grace and love. A great telling of how great God is . A must read for those in ministry that have fallen down and want to get back up. Anyone contemplating prison ministry should read this.
Oh my goodness this book is amazing. As my daughter is currently on the mercy ship I was drawn to this story but wow I could not put this book down. Incredible, honest, raw, deep , amazing story of incredible faith and trust, and complete obedience to God . Just amazing. One of the best books I have read in a while.
This book is written with such honesty and openness. It shows that even when we are not walking with God, He never leaves us. That we must make our hearts pure before God to make our requests known and heard.
This is an amazing story of faith and resilience, determination and dedication. That it is not a story, but someone’s actual life and the difficulties they encountered and overcome makes it even more amazing. Well written and very engaging. Highly recommend this book.
Very well written. Very honest. Very God honoring. I was deeply moved by it-- and greatly encouraged by God's faithfulness when we are in the depth of despair. Praise His name!
Couldn't get into this one. Writing was very boring I. Made it to chapter 6 and had to move on. Still don't know why she was arrested, but Iif you can't tell me in 6 chapters then you've lost my attention.
