Journalist Lauren Hughes needs her job. And if that means writing a feature on Nico Donato—billionaire playboy and primo fantasy material for every straight woman with a pulse—so be it. All she has to do is not be charmed by him. Or tempted. Or invite this sexy, too-hot-to-be-true man into her real world…especially when he has the power to destroy it.

It started okay, and by the end... It was pure confusion and rushed events. At first Lauren seems to be a strong woman, who is conscious of her decision, of what she wants and isn't really impressed by a pretty face or superficial things. Yet she ends as a naive and brainless person. Someone who doesn't think about anything logically and just acts on impulse. She herself makes no sense, her behavior contradicts who she's supposed to be. Nico (I hope that's his name lol) isn't really charming or interesting. The only good thing about him is that he likes her kid and is nice to him. The kid was fun here and there... But sometimes his behavior didn't really represent his age. Even though Lauren could have said he was mature for his age, there were things that he wouldn't understand either way.
The main couple relationship was not developed or improved. It started superficial and ended the same way. The writing didn't help with that, the way some of the scenes were written was just... uninspired and rushed.
First of all: if someone makes you loose your job just because that would favor them somehow... IT'S NOT OK. Second of all: if someone (A FRIEND) tells you it's okay, you should probably get new friends.
I'm sorry, but there was nothing romantic about this book or this hero. Nico gives alpha males a bad name and I didn't find much to like about him. I've read this author's other books and enjoyed them, but this one was just vulgar. The writing in the Dare line is all over the place. For a line that is supposed to be about strong women, this one made the heroine weak thanks to the hero's machinations. I've read just about every Dare book that has been published. Many are very romantically written with toe-curling sex scenes that are graphic without being crude. Then there is this one that read more like an entitle teenage trust fund kid getting his rocks off. I'm giving it three stars because I felt for the heroine...but I honestly felt bad she hooked up with the hero because she could have done much better.
Lauren is a single mom to her son Grady, and as she is a journalist, she is assigned to write about Nico, who is a wealthy playboy, who has a huge commitment phobia problem. This is a well written, sweet and sexy story, which had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, and I highly recommend her work for all readers.
Lauren, Grady and Nico’s story will have you shed a few tears and cheer at the same time. Nico Donato is rich, bored and commitment phobe. Lauren is a journalist who was assigned to write a story on Nico. She is reluctant to take the assignment because of her past, but bills need to be paid and she needs to take care of her son Grady. Their attraction to each other is magnetic and volatile. Can Nico settle down? Will Laureen open her heart to him? Their story is beautiful and captivating the characters endearing and so real.
Great heart wrenching HEA story. Lauren being a single mother only had one boy in her life and she thought that was all she needed. Nico being a rich playboy didn't think he needed anyone for any amount of time in his life. Until Lauren was sent to do a story on Nico, neither of them liked each other, but as they got to know each other they couldn't deny the pull their hearts had. Even when people do stupid things and you think you never can forgive them, don't forget your heart doesn't forget that easy. Forgiveness is something we as humans all need!!
Lauren Hughes has been burned by a man just like Nico Donato, and she has a son to prove it. Nico has no interest in a commitment, but Lauren isn't like other women. Before he knows it, he falls for her and will do anything to keep Lauren and her son in his life. Fantastic romance with a happily ever after. Sexy, sweet, and sometimes funny characters. I loved this book!

This book reminded me why I like Alexx Andria. It was easy, yet intriguing. It had the right twist at the right time and I never immagined I could really like Nico Donato so much. I felt it on myself, all the love and all the hatred Lauren felt (even if somehow in time some books tend to make you less vulnerable to the things the author expresses, because you somehow get used to it... yet not this book). I was almost crying at the end. Thank you for the read!

Always fun to read a book that you like quite quickly and you realize when you have read it clearly that the book belongs to a series. :) Disadvantage of the book club books is that they do not come in the right order. This was part 2 in a book series of 3 books. There is nothing negative to say about the book. :)
This book isn’t badly written but there are just some things in the story that made no sense and the hero was really underhand and devious which made the whole thing feel not very romantic at all. But if that sort of thing doesn’t bother you then you’ll probably enjoy it as the writing is good.
I really liked the novel. The characters were mostly believable. This was the first book that I read by the author and I am looking forward to reading other books written by her.
I enjoyed this story! It was well written and the characters drew me in from beginning to end. Lauren and Nico are on different tracks but when they run into each other there is just something there. Nico wants to explore and Lauren doesn't. It's a good thing Nico is very stubborn. I loved how things played out and how things developed between the characters. I loved Lauren's son. He was a great character as well. The sex is explicit and while it plays a part, (Nico really wants to sleep with her) there is a lot more to the story and to the relationship that they start building. The story was just well written and I really enjoyed reading it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I gotta say Nico was more than a handful. I admit I thought like Lauren did and felt he was a shallow billionaire. Especially what the stunt he pulled regarding Lauren's employment at Luxe. But he grew on me and he was hella sexy to boot. I liked that he redeemed himself in the end. Lauren was jaded by relationships so I could see why she was reluctant to give love a chance. I was glad they got the happy ending they deserved. And it didn't hurt that Grady was a cute as a button too. I enjoyed this book very much! A thumbs up! I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
