Racing through life means love can pass you by.
Billie Page. IndyCar racing’s darling. To the outside world, she seems put together. Determined. Serious. Only she and the ones close to her know the truth. Billie’s a failure. She works every day to change that, to strengthen her mind and her body for the grueling demands of her job. Everything is about racing. It has to be. It’s all she has left.
Then a woman makes her laugh.
Krysta Ekert lives life on the whims of the wind. She doesn’t know where her next paycheck will come from and doesn’t care. She does what she wants, when she wants it, and asks for forgiveness rather than permission. The moment she meets Billie Page she knows whose bed she’ll be sleeping in that night and it’s not her own.
When Krysta is hit by a car, her accident binds the women together in a way neither of them could have predicted. It’s dangerous for both to stay—Billie may lose her career, Krysta her independence—but leaving becomes less and less of an option the longer they wait. Will they find a way to make it work? Can one really have it all?
Heartwarming and often humorous, Rocky Road is an emotional look at two women searching for happiness in all the wrong places and discovering how much more life offers when you open your heart.
This was the first book that I've read by Anna Cove and it was an intriguing story. The characters of Krysta and Billie and the theme centered around racing were all interesting. I also liked the secondary character, Tanya. I'll read additional offerings from Anna Cove.
I enjoyed the tone of the story, and I liked the two MCs. An enjoyable read. Three stars bc some of the drama nearly drove me off the edge and the set-up for the relationship was kind of ridiculous (Krysta genuinely seemed like a stalker, and Billie went a bit far for someone she barely knew) but I still very much enjoyed it. Especially loved the angst over Billie figuring out whether she really loves driving or just feels like she has to drive bc it's been her thing since she was pretty young and her family and fans are counting on her.
Speed, racing, fumes. Female Indy car driver Billie job as a race car driver, focused on her comeback and her demands of the job she has little time for people in her life, imagine her meeting someone who makes you laugh :) in come Krysta who knows almost naught about racing, lives life in the moment. these to meet and lives become entangled. Billie tries to continue her career believing she has not been affected, the more she tries the more her life unravels. Kyrstas parents wow, was a pill. Lovely written book
Great read. Story about Billie and Krysta, both to scared to believe in forever after. But after lots of struggles, ups and downs find one another. Loved the inside look in the race scene by Billie but also the struggle of getting on your feet again for Krysta.
A recieved a copy from the writer for my honest review.
Have read 4 so far and have not been disappointed with either the story or the writer. Rocky road was a different kind of story. Exposing the vulnerability of both characters. I definitely enjoyed Krysta and Billie as both were well represented with their insecurities and dreams.
🌈FEEL GOOD READ🌈 This story will entertain you , perhaps touch you emotionally . It may even rile you up a bit . Especially when you are introduced to Krysta's mother at the hospital . And let's not forget Billie's dad ! These to people are in a sect that is fit for people with the same hearts . That said it's a good read .
Very good book. Not as good as the first three of the Smithie Books but still worth the read. A few grammar and sentence structure errors found but still worth reading. The author is really good at painting the picture of the plot and I really enjoy reading her work. Recommend the read.
This is a nice love story about Krista and Billie. They are both afraid of commitment. They fall in love and have some ups and downs. The story is well written with a great ending.
A good love story as with all the other books could not stop reading until I finished it. Gives one hope that if you believe all will end well. Loved both Billie and Krysta with a great some great laughs.
Overall a good storyline, I liked the racing angle. I did feel the characters were a bit immature, but that’s maybe my age! It was also a wee bit rushed at the end. But...author has potential for sure.
