[Trigon Press] (1977). HB/DJ. 34 Pages. Purchased from Richard Dalby’s Library.
I’m mystified as to why the publisher saw fit to inflict this tripe on a wider readership with a new edition.
There’s no Index or Bibliographical data.
The writing’s dreadful - the word ‘tragedy’, for instance, appears three times in a single sentence.
Hunter’s prone to sweeping generalisations and hyperbole, for example, of “Mr. Weston’s Good Wine” (1927):
“…without any doubt, a major writer… The book is a masterpiece… It is one of the greatest novels of this century… one of the greatest allegories in the English language… His technique is perfected… The more one reads this book, the more one admires its astonishing beauty… Not even the severest critic could reasonably find any fault…”
There are dissenting voices… it’s rated 3.55/5.00 on Goodreads.
