really detailed history of the U.S. Army War College. It is interesting to see how the curriculum would change over time, most often driven by what was happening both in the warfighting environment overseas (Vietnam) and in the realm of policy (Goldwater-Nichols). There seems to be a running theme or constant friction on the purpose of the War College between preparing for high command (echelons above corps), and preparing leaders for work at the strategy and policy levels of government.
