I learned so much from this book. I had to read it slowly since I was a first edition. It was worth every slow turn of a page.

RE: 1901 edition: Wow - an amazing read... to feel the emotions of the writer as he put down his words so soon after the demise of VR... a completely different vantage point of the Queen's life... written in 1901 and read 108 years later... I feel I've gained a whole new insight into the history of that time... "modern" then... so "ancient" to us now. A beautiful picture of a lost age.
