A compact guide to Chicago's architecture, this book illustrates and describes more than 100 highlights of downtown Chicago, from the lakefront to Michigan Avenue to the Loop, including works both historic and modern.
This book came in very handy when I recently visited Chicago. It was great for helping me determine which streets to wander around in the limited time I had and, also, good for identifying names of many of the buildings I photographed.
After reading "The Devil In The White City" I became fascinated with Chicago architecture. We manage to get there a few times each year, and over the course of those trips I have read every word of this book at least twice - it seems historically relevant to me even though it's a tourist guide.
Good quickie reference on Chicago architecture. If I'd been good, I would have looked at it more carefully before taking the river architecture tour....
