I have the honor to inform you that it is the wish of the Canadian Govern-r ment to send a Delegation to attend the Conference which it is proposed to hold this year, of gentlemen representing respectively, Nova Scotia, New Bruns wick, and Prince Edward Island, with a view to the Union of those Provinces. The object of the Canadian Government is to ascertain whether the proposed Union may not be made to embrace the whole of the British North American Provinces. I shall feel much obliged if you will inform me of the time and place which have been fixed on for the meeting; and I trust the presence of a Canadian De legation will be agreeable to their brethren of the Maritime Provinces.
