Thirteen-year-old Glenda finds her old weight problem returning to haunt her after friendship, romance, and a new job turn sour during a summer that looked so promising in the beginning.
I read this on a plane and it is definitely a teen book, but it is among the better versions. I think this author deals with the issue of obesity and weight loss with dignity. Self-esteem doesn't become something cheesy, but rather, something empowering. I dislike the ending, but it is a teen book: wishful thinking is necessary.
