Nationalism and Ethnicity Terminologies: An Encyclopedic Dictionary and Research Guide

Rate this book
No doubt three, probably more, fat volumes could be compiled of racial, national, and ethnic slurs and nicknames, but that is not the goal here. Rather the volumes define technical terms used in the academic study of nationalism. Neophytes to the field, of course, would find the reference useful, but also veteran scholars who have studied nationalism in one particular discipline and may be curious to know what on earth those scholars across campus mean when they write about it. Volume Three begins with A and ends with Z, and so it is not an alphabetical continuation of the 1999 and 2002 volumes; presumably it is an update and supplement. The entries are short paragraphs with cross-references and references to the 7000-item bibliography. There is no index. This press is confusingly giving the same ISBN to each volume (there should be an ISBN for the set and different ones for each volume). Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
