Uncertanities

Our folk didn't have much
In the way of lore.

But I remember a story,
A warning against envy
And also against good fortune,
Too much for out small heads-

About a lucky man called Him
And his friend who envied him.
Jim had the luck
He married the girl they both of them loved
And his friend envied him.
Then Jim died, and the friend
Married his widow. And then
The friend envied lucky Jim,
Asleep in peace in the churchyard
