If the financial rewards of a successful trail drive are great, the risks are even greater. They were well known to Sam Rider. But because he was a drover, he assessed the possible profits and was ready to set out once more to defy fate, man and nature.
An old mass-market paperback Western...really more like a long vignette or novella, rather than a novel. It is a character sketch of Sam Rider, a cattle drover, and a trail ride to Kansas. The reader is introduced to his buddies and the stereotypical trials he encounters along the way i.e. Indians who won't stay on the reservation, crooked Army officers, women impersonating men, and of course, fisticuffs and gunfights.
