Jonathan Grupper is the author who wrote this amazing book and has wrote many books about different animals, sea creatures and birds. “Destination Polar Reigns, “Destination Deep Sea”, “Destination Rain Forest” and many more. He has been interested in the nature world and has written more than fifty films and produced two children television series for National Geographic. He has received nominees for “Best Outstanding Children Series”, “Daytime Emmy Award” and more.
This is a wonderful short read book that explores the wildlife of Australia. The book guides you through morning to night. The entire focus of this book is the wild animals and other creatures in the sea. Grupper offers a brief narrative about the history of each animal and creature. In addition, Grupper presents a brief history of how Australia became the country it is today toward the end of the book. I like how the storyline is interesting and uses colorful captivating photographs that encourages readers and I to keep reading more about animals and creatures of Australia. Since the author is partnered with National Geographic, it’s made for the general audience. I think this can help a young student on a school research project or an older adult who wants to be aware of the wildlife if they are going on vacation to Australia or interested in the nature of wildlife like Grupper is.
I chose this book because I like to read about different countries and see what they must offer for visitors. In addition, the book has a different style of introduction from others because its feels like it’s taking you on a journey from a part of Australia to another. An example from the book, “Your flashlight’s beam bounces off the blue gum trees. Silently, you tiptoe through a mysterious forest paradise,” (Grupper 4).
After reading this, I would want to visit Australia because I now know the different types of animals and creatures that live there besides kangaroos. This is one of best books to get a taste of Australia.

This is a short book about the unusual animals that are found in Australia. It is very basic. Good for small children who want to learn what the animals are in the land down under. More detail would be needed for older kids.
