Truth or Dare

Rate this book
Eleven years ago, I lost my innocence to a complete stranger.
He had everything - dominance, thirst, power, control...
It was perfect!
Except...
That he left me scarred, damaged, flawed (and pregnant).

I meet him today, only to discover that he's gotten HOTTER with the years.
And that big, rugged body? That's made for sin.
Those icy blue eyes scorch me with feelings so intense that make me want to forget my imperfect past.
Suddenly, getting lost in the mountains seems like the most beautiful thing ever.
And when we play the game of truth or dare, I choose dare.

And guess what?
He dares me not to fall for him again!

Just that he doesn't know my deepest, darkest secret.
A secret that could destroy both of us - forever!

Rescued In The Mountains

Calla was barely 18 years old and ready to go off to college when she has a passionate one night stand with Jake and loses her virginity to him.  They never think they will see each other again but she got pregnant that one special night.  Meanwhile, Jake joined up and spent time in Afghanistan and suffers from PTSD. Since leaving the military he has lived in the mountains in Maine in his own wooden cabin with no electricity nor running water or tv!  He often spends time with his friend Gabe who lives nearby [about a mile away].  Eleven years later, Calla is now a romance writer and wants to get some inspiration for her latest book and so she does a survival course before hiking in the mountains. Unfortunately, bad timing leads to her caught in a bad snow storm and Jake rescues her, little realising that she was HIS Calla!  What I found refreshingly lovely about this latest story by Amy Brent was that Jake had not been a man whore in the eleven years between being with Calla and finding her in the storm, which does tend to be the 'formula' in many love stories these days.  It was her memory that often helped him throughout the years and her encounter with him had certainly provided fabulous 'material' for her novels.  As she has to spend some time there together in the storm they play a game of @truth or Dare' and all sorts of interesting info is revealed.  Their passion for one another is still burning brightly but is that enough? Or are these fews days together all that they are going to have?  Will Jake want more of her? Will they tell each other how they feel?  Will Calla want to live in the mountains with him?  Do they stand a chance at a HEA?  This is one of Amy's best stories yet.  I loved the twists in the storyline and I liked 'hearing' their POV and it flowed so well. By the end of the book I really felt as if I almost 'knew' them. Their interactions were so well written and I couldn't put the book down as it was just so great a read. I fully encourage you all to get your own copy and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.  Looking forward to Amy's next story. Calla and Jake meet when she was getting ready to head off to college and barely over eighteen years old. They have a hot wild night together and go their separate ways thinking they'd never see each other again. Now eleven years later when Calla goes off the hiking trail and gets lost her rescuer is none of than Jake. However he is different than last time she knew him. Years of working in the military during wartime have taken a toll on Jake. Jake moved to the hunting cabin when he was done with the military. With just him and his dog he thought he everything he wanted but that all changed when Calla came home with him during the snowstorm she got lost in. After a steamy game of truth and dare it wasn't long before they gave in and slept together. Jake thinks that they are too different to be anything more than a fling but Calla knows that they are meant for each other. However she has a secret she's been keeping and it could change how Jake feels about her. Can Jake and Calla be together when he learns her secret? Can Calla convince Jake that they can be together?

This was a great story about a couple getting a second chance at love. The chemistry between Jake and Calla is electrifying. This was an well written and very entertaining story. Once I started I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this to any book lover that loves an amazing romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed this so much I bought my own copy.

Jake finds a way to make a better life for himself by joining the Army, but before being sent overseas, he needs to rid himself of his virginity. He is at the bar with the intentions of finding someone to take that away, and when Calla walks in, he knows he is in trouble, but he leaves the next day. After retiring he buys a quiet little place in the Mountains to be alone with himself and his demons. But when he is saving a lost hiker in a snow storm, will he survive the storm and his chance encounter?

Calla is set to go off to college, but doesn't want to go a virgin, she goes to the bar with her friends and finds Jake, and the next 12 hours are a wonderful memory that she cherishes for years to come and no man has ever lived up to those memories. But with memories come pain, but she has survived, but thinks she is broken. But as a romance writer, she can escape her secrets and live through her alter ego, but getting lost on the mountain during a snow storm, was not part of the plan, will someone find her? Will she remember Jake? Will Jake remember her?

This is an excellent story of a second chance needed by both parties. I love Jake and Calla, through the dark comes light! Everyone needs their person, and that is what they found in each other. I could not put it down, very steamy hot and sweet. I recommend this book and author. I voluntarily received an ARC of this book from the author.

I have to admit that the words "A Mountain Man's Second Chance Romance" almost put me off. Almost, but I'm so glad I went ahead to finish the book anyway.

This book by Amy Brent touches very, very briefly soft spots like PTSD and miscarriage and the inability to carry, and I think it is also refreshing that the FMC is an author.

Jake is a war veteran who left the Army three years ago and chose to live in the mountains thus the term "Mountain Man", and coincidentally saved Calla while she was stranded while trekking through the mountain when the storm came. They slept together 11 years ago and that was their first encounter again after all those years.

I made notes along the way and a few that particularly stood out was how cute Jake was talking to Casper all the time and when he called Evie a cat! I kept the impression that he's a softie, especially when he sat outside Calla's parents' house for an hour, pondering whether to slip the note or to continue waiting just to see her. I think my heart died at that.

The second half of the book has so much more smut; the first part was just pure angst and sexual tension and I loved it. I truly enjoyed this book from Amy Brent and it is my very first 5-star in a while.

Wow where do I start I loved this book Jake and Calla story is hot, it’s about hooking up with a one night stand and the walking away in the morning but sometimes it isn’t that easy and life throws you a curveball and that’s what happens between Jake and Calla, Jake leaves for the army and Calla goes off to start college after the most amazing night of her life but always thinks of Jake especially after loosing the baby they made together. Calla has grow and is now a romance writer and heads to the mountains to research her new book and becomes lost in the middle of a snow storm but is found by a mountain man but they carn’t make it back safely to the lodge so he takes her back to his cabin and when the storm dies down they’ll come get her, that’s when they realize that they have meet before and old memories come back and sparks start to fly the same chemistry that was there before is still burning between them. Can this couple get there second chance at love or does there secrets keep them apart, read this hot steamy book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an arc copy of this book for an honest review.

Sensuous

I loved this story about Jake and Calla and how their brief sexual encounter 11 years ago leaves a lasting impression. When Calla makes a mistake that nearly cost her life, these two are thrown together once again and their lives are forever changed. It isn’t just their wild, sexual attraction that affected me, it’s their respect for each other, their ability to worship and adore each other that makes this truly a romance to remember. He’s living with his dog in a mountain cabin to escape the noise of the world since his time serving his country. She’s a romance writer still looking for true inspiration. The secondary characters Gabe and Holly are special in their own right and only add to the sadness and fun, too. I’d rate this a 4.5 for the feel good feeling you will be left with and I highly recommend it. Editing errors, while not many, just kept it from a 5.

Oh my word....phewee....this is one hot book. Enough to melt the snow in the ice caps.
The story of Jake and Calla , accidentally meeting up again after 11 years. Getting lost in the snow wasn’t part of the plan of taking a relaxing break or being rescued by a hot mountain of a man. I don’t know who is more shocked, Jake or Calla and now they are stranded in Jake’s cabin due to bad weather, they will have to amuse themselves. Jake tries to resist but Calla is a woman on a mission. Only one problem, Calla realises she has secrets to reveal and she can’t keep silent forever. When she told Jake, I admit I cried, so moving. Never expected that. Then Jake has to deal with an ex on/off boyfriend Blake.
A brilliant story that will leave you hot and bothered but with lots of emotions, secrets and pleased you read this. I did. Fantastic.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Calla and Jake were such a hot couple. The way they meet again after so many years was great. I loved that Calla at the beginning seemed to be the one to initiate the flirty behavior and make her interest known via a game of truth or dare. It is clear from the beginning neither one forgot about the night they shared so long ago. I must say I was so glad to see that Jake was not cast as a manwhore before meeting Calla. So many times that seems to take away from the strong male character in the book and really has no baring on the story. This is a well written book with some very hot and sexy chemistry. I was so happy to see that once Jake came to realize Calla was the one for him he didn't waste anytime finding her and letting her know. Great HEA!

3.5 super steamy stars.

This one is a steamy second chance romance.
A mountain man and city girl, both shared past, and now they trapped in snowstorm.
There's drama and secrets, it has interesting story and plot, even though it's a bit predictable.
It's a fun read with plenty of hotness (especially that "Truth and Dare" game, oh yeah this game is super hot), even though it's pretty slow for my taste.

As for characters, I'm not a big fan of Jake, his pull and push is really annoying and so frustrating, it makes me want to slap him most of the time.
And Calla, I admire this girl, she's a strong woman, even she's been through a lot.
Even though I wished there's more about the relationship and feelings than the sex, I still like this couple.

If you're looking for really steamy romance read, you must try this one.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Jake and Calla. Jake has been hiding out for years and hasn't found any reason to return to civilization. That is until one beautiful woman shows up on his mountain. Call is not a outdoor kind of woman so what is she doing on a mountain? Well that would be because her friend told her it would be fun and she listened. Now she still isn't an outdoors kind of girl but she can sure appreciate a mountain man. Will they both be able to get all they want or will they both be losers in the end?

This is an amazing book that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. It has it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. I however don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Truth or Dare.

I did not enjoy the book at all. Oh, it was well written, the premise was good but not played upon as the title leads you to believe.

The problem was Jake. So rude and also unprofessional. When he rescued her there was no helping a lost woman in a snow storm. He did not ask how she was. He talked about her inappropriate clothing but did not offer her help to get warm, allowed her to fall face first in the snow numerous times without helping I couldn't get past the rudeness and unprofessional behavior of a person who was part of a rescue team.

Second. This is a novella. A story that takes less than two hours to read. Tacked on were numerous other books.

I was terribly disappointed in the read. What the synopsis of the read and what was written were two different things.

Another great story by Amy Brent!! Who would have thought when you get called out to find a missing person that that person would have been someone from your past that you have thought about many times over the years? Jake was looking forward to a quiet night in his mountain cabin when he received a call that a woman was lost. When he learned her name was Calla, he wondered what the chances were that it was the same woman he had lost his virginity to eleven years before. Calla had wanted to do a little research for her next book when she had lost her way. She never dreamed that her rescuer would be someone from her past. This story is hot, even in a snow storm. It keeps you coming back for more and hoping that they both can see that the chemistry between them is off the charts. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Amy has once again written an extremely entertaining and sexy read. This story is hot, hot, hot with crazy, intense chemistry and addictive sex. Jake is an army veteran living on the mountain due to his PTSD and Calla is a fiery red head romance writer who gets lost hiking during a snow storm. The fact that they met each other years before, when Jake was enlisting and then again when he rescues Calla is a fun twist. This second-chance, mountain man romance is a well-developed story with strong characters. My only concern is the length of this book. I thought the story was a bit long, dragging in parts and I was becoming irritated with Jake running hot then cold. Despite this slight criticism I definitely recommend “Truth or Dare”

Hot And Sweet!
Jake is a part time ski patrol, ex Army, full time mountain man. When he gets a call on his radio that a skier is missing it's time to go to work. He and his dog Casper and his (1 mile away) nearest neighbor Gabe search their grid and he finds the missing woman Calla. How was he to know that this Calla is the very same Calla he once knew 11 years ago. Calla is so surprised to recognize Jake as the man who gave her the best and wildest night of her life. This was the man who changed her life only he never knew it. Trapped in a cabin with one another for days and nights No TV and nothing to do sexual tension is sizzling and then Calla suggests a game...Truth or Dare! This was a winner on every level. Hot and sweet.

Truth or Dare

So loved this book, can't even find it anymore, but thats ok, it was in my e-book. Excellent read. Everything moves fast on the mountain, including a snow storm. Calla writes steamy romance books, her new book was going to be set in the mountains, so she went wandering, off the trail to get the feel of things so she could write about it better, only the weather changed fast, her phone didn't work not did the built in GPS and she was wandering in a storm. Jake had been in the army had seen to much and was haunted by memories. So when he came home, having no family and wanting no company, he built himself a small place on the mountain. He helps with rescues, and various odds and ends. He was settled in his cabin, just about to read his book when he gets the call, a woman has gone missing in the storm..

Through Jake and Calla Amy brings us a story of true love that transcends the test of time. This is a second chance romance about having a connection with someone even when they are not around, being true to who you are, and learning that what you thought was a deal breaker; when with the right person is anything but. Jake and Calla will pull you in with their chemistry and hold you captive with their hot sizzling sexual encounters. This is one that takes you on a journey from beginning to end, that you won't want let go. GREAT STORYLINE, GREAT CHARACTERS, GREAT READ! I found this an interesting read; a search and rescue, getting through being snowed in with no electricity, a shared history, PTSD, an obnoxious Ex, denying feelings, hot hot hot chemistry and a version of truth and dare I've certainly never played before.

Seeing these two let down their guards and share themselves emotionally as well as physically made this a good read. I loved the banter with Gabe and every scene that Casper was in. The story of how they met and what they didn't know about each other then and after that night was touching and heartbreaking. I loved the story about the ring. 😍

A very well written second chance romance. It has a great storyline and plot. The characters are well described and they develop nicely through the story. Their passion and chemistry is over the top. It is a captivating story about a couple that meets again after 11 years and she has a secret he does not know. Can they make it in spite of the secret or are they torn away from each other? How do you reaquiant with each other after all this time? Do you want to take the chance and maybe be hurt again?
A story with a strong male character that is likeable and not a player. A woman that dares to take a chance.
Absolutely a hot and steamy read and a story of good length.

Jake man of mystery went out to find someone that was missing from the lodge in the bad weather and gets more than he wants.
Calla needing time to find her head gets lost when walking and ends up being rescued but when he comes into focus she realises that it was someone she met years ago.
Great story and loved reading it no many characters but no need with this steamy romance.

Truth or Dare

After spending a drunken night together eleven years before Jake and Calla are reunited by fate. When Calla gets lost in the snowy mountains she gets rescued by Jake and his trusty dog Casper, who takes her back to his cabin, until the rescue team can retrieve her. Neither can forget that night they shared and after a game of Truth and Dare the cabin is soon very hot and steamy!
This is another great second chance book by Amy Brent.

Calla had an one night stand w/ Jake.
Jake had an one nigh stand w/ Calla.
They both thought that they would never see each other again.
When Calla is lost in the mountain, Jake is the one that rescue her.
The chemistry/attraction is still there.
Will Calla + Jake give love a chance ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!

Truth Or Dare is a sexy second chance romance. Given the first chance was a one night stand between strangers, there was no shortage of chemistry between Jake and Calla. This book was a bit longer than it needed to be with more internal antagonists and drama. It was definitely steamy but didn’t have too much bite.
I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.

I love Amy Brent's books. I haven't read one I didn't like. This book is no exception. Calla and Jake had a one night stand 11 years ago before he went into the military. Now he hides out in a cabin in the mountains, preferring the solitude. When Calla goes hiking to do research on a book she starts venturing off the trail and gets lost. Jake hears about the lost hiker and goes looking for her. This is a second chance romance. The chemistry is hot. I recommend this book.

Mountain man, second chance romance, New romance, very dirty talk and straight up book porn. I love my sexy times and second chance romance but This book seemed to use sex as a filer instead of expanding on character building. I started skipping some of the sex scenes and there were many!!!
2 games of truth or dare and that's the title?! Confused.
Hea, epilogue. 2.5 stars too much sex...shocker coming from me so you know it's ALOT!

Lots of bonuses

I saw this book on a Facebook add. And thought it looked good. While the stories were good and easy to follow the formatting and errors were not. Maybe after the book is back from what ever editor you use, get beta readers that will give you honest feedback and will give you a list of things that dont read properly. And three line spaces between paragraphs please no. It makes it so much harder to read. I didnt finish the last story I couldn't take anymore.
