Unfortunately, I didn't like "Divine Grace" as much as the first book in this series.
Don't get me wrong this wasn't awful and I still found this an enjoyable endeavour.
I just think my main issue here was that this ran parallel with the previous book; so until the halfway mark I felt a bit; been there, done that and If I'm honest found it a bit boring rehashing the same old storyline we had already experienced previously.
So, after the halfway mark things did pick up and I enjoyed this much more.
And in "Divine Grace", we get to catch up with all the same characters we were introduced to previously.
The only main difference this time around is that we get some major insight into the former lightbearer Lahash and his reasons and ultimate agenda for the Nephilim.
I liked both Trevin and Inaya but did find Trevin's portrayal to be of a slightly one-dimensional nature.
And I really felt that I didn't get to know him quite as much as I would have liked; he seemed to me to be a bit of a closed book overall.
Because of this, I found his character difficult to feel a strong connection with, which was a shame as I would have definitely liked to get to learn what makes him ultimately tick as I did initially find him rather intriguing.
Inaya was much more transparent and I did find myself warming to her more easily, but I still wasn't ultimately convinced of the chemistry between these two.
It was just so sudden in nature and I think more of a slow build would have been more appropriate here.
despite my above bug-bears, this was still overall an interesting read and a unique take on the Nephilim so it gets points for that fact alone.
So on careful consideration, I decided to give this three Stars as I did enjoy and finish this but at times it struggled to keep my attention.

Divine Grace is book 2 of the Divine series. I would definitely suggest reading these books in order. Although the author provides plenty of information in each book to stand alone, having read the books in order provides some additional insights in the characters, circumstances, and relationships throughout the story. I loved seeing part of the events from the first book in a new light because I was able to see them from Inaya, Trevin, and Lahash's point of view. I also gained conclusions on a few events that I thought book 1 left open....now I realize the author probably planned to conclude them all along, but wanted to do so in the book in which the characters directly impacted were the main characters which I really appreciate. Inaya was a beautiful person in the first book as was Trevin. We saw that both of them were honorable people who clearly had chemistry and a bit of a past with one another, but Divine Grace showed the reader who each of them truly was including their strengths, weaknesses, and history. I loved seeing Inaya gain confidence in her place and abilities throughout the story. I truly enjoyed learning the history of both Inaya and Trevin because it helped me understand so much of their personalities. Lahash's point of view was a great addition to this book as well because we get to see more and more of the personality and story that is developing between the angels and the fallen angels as well as how Lahash may be able to change and redeem himself if he chooses to do so. I am so very excited to continue this series and can't wait to read more and more!

I seriously loved this book! If you loved book 1 then get ready to be blown away by book 2.
My favorite characters are back again and after they way things left off in book 2 I was dying to get my hands on this one.
This series definitely needs to be read in order because while book 1 was told mostly from Amira and Caeden's points of view with a few others thrown in here and there, book 2 follows the same series of events, but is from Inaya and Trevin's points of view. I LOVED getting to read this book from the other perspectives to find out what else was going on throughout the story. While many of the scenes were ones from the first book, I was able to get answers to questions I had and see things from another vantage point.
The chemistry between Inaya and Trevin was strong in book 1 but really only hinted at, so for them to be the focus of this story I couldn't wait to find out what was going on between the two of them. Plus, even though I knew some of what was going to happen there were still many surprises that I never saw coming. My emotions were still taken for a ride because of the thing I learned about Inaya's past, and I got to see a different side to some of the other characters as well. Still full of comical moments between the members of the royal guard I was laughing one moment and on edge with what was going to happen the next.
Because of a few questions I still have I am really hoping for a third book in this series. I am not ready to be done with these characters yet.
