This non-fiction book is an extreme fact book about the sun and stars. The sun is given a great description in this book; its size, its temperature, where it gets energy, what it’s made of, and its atmosphere are all clearly defined in this book. After talking about these facts about the sun, the stars are then discussed. Their size, what their made of, why they shine, their temperature, and their age are discussed in great detail. There are also different types of stars, such as the red giant, are discussed in this book.

I would use this book to teach students about descriptive language and vocabulary. The way the sun and stars are described in this book is very detailed allowing students to picture it in their mind. The vocabulary in this book is also very rich. This is a children’s book for higher grades, but there are still many words that students can learn from reading this book. Depending on the age group this book is being used for, this book may need to be read aloud because it is very lengthy and wordy; younger students may not be able to read it on their own.
