The angel sat in the dark and waited. This was the most unusual assignment he had ever received. Up till now, his missions had always been straightforward, typical guardian angel tasks. But this job was different...’

In this moving retelling, Bob Hartman gets right to the heart of the Easter story—evoking its pain, its loneliness and, at last, its unexpected joy. The changing mood of the story is reflected in Tim Jonke’s dramatic and powerful illustrations. The Easter Angels is a memorable book to return to year after year.

Love this retelling of the Resurrection from the point of view of two angels, a guardian angel and the angel of death. However my copy has illustrations by Tim Jonke.

The Easter Angels, by Bob Harman, Illustrated by Sophy Williams, Kregel-Lion UK, Hardcover, 2010, 32 Pages, ISBN-13: 978-0745969220, $14.99

Have you ever considered the Resurrection story from the angels' perspective? Well-known author, Bob Hartman has. He combines his talents with that of "prestigious illustrator Sophy Williams" to relate the Easter story from an angels point-of-view in the children's book, Easter Angels.

The story begins with Candriel, a guardian angel who waits for a mysterious angel to join him in a partnership mission. I bought this book because it had a theme very similar to another book close to my heart. I really loved it. I was immediately drawn into the story, wondering what the "unusual assignment" was. Then I wanted to know about the differing angels and then what the "orders" were. I was touched by the empathy shown by the angels and delighted in the wonderful ending... Great news for man and the angles. Thanks Bob Hartman and illustrator Tim Jonke for producing this book that speaks of the Resurrection of Christ in a such a wonderful and powerful way.
