Unconditional, Me and My Scattered Thoughts

Rate this book
Unconditional is a wonderfully moving collection of poetry that is widely relatable. The poems within the collection are thoughtful, inspiring and truthful; a truthful account from the point of view of a troubled soul and caring heart that’s just trying to make sense of all that is uncertain in the world.

'Unconditional. Me and My Scattered Thoughts' is an honest, raw Poetry collection. The book is broken into three parts 'Life', 'Love', 'Faith'. In my opinion the poems in the first section are the strongest. They are a punch in the stomach. You can feel the injustice Renee feels as she speaks about injustice, racism and sociopolitical issues.

Renee says "We created you then we ruined you when we taught you how to hate".
In her Poetry you can see how strong she believes in the ideas of Family and Love and Trust and Compassion. I dare to say she is a dreamer, and we need more dreamers like her.

My favorite poems were 'Dark child' and 'Dysphoria'.

I also liked the black and white photographs that accompany some of the poems.

What i didn't like - and that's why i give 4 stars and not 5 - was the fact that some of the poems were critisising other poeple's way of lives and i didn't like that. But that's just in a couple of poems in the section of 'Faith'.

I definately recommend this book.

“Unconditional: Just Me and My Scattered Thoughts” by T. Renee is truly an honest account of “a troubled soul and caring heart that’s just trying to make sense of all that is uncertain in the world,” as the description claims it to be. Firstly, I want to say that the subtitle word “Scattered” does not fit the description of the organization of this book. It is very well organized, being broken into three parts: Life, Love, and Faith. Reading this collection of poems, I came away with the distinct impression that T. Renee is a very smart woman. The poems in the Life section of the book make many references to history, and many of them lament the racism directed at various groups of people, including both the struggles of the African Americans and that of the Native Americans. Most of the poems in the Life section take a rather bleak look at things, but that is the way of how somethings can be. The Love section has some light-hearted poems, and it also covers the seeking of love and the heartaches people may suffer. The poems in the Faith section are both dark and joyful. Some regret the lack of faith others have, and some celebrate the Christian Faith. While some of the poems come off as a criticism, it should be noted that on the back cover, T. Renee states that she is “well meaning” and does not want to “cause contention”. This is a collection of poems that is worth reading.
