Fixing My Eyes On Jesus: Daily Moment In His Word is a beautifully written devotional by Anne Graham Lotz. Having read several of her books, I knew this devotional would be a wonderful addition to my morning time.
Each month begins with a quote by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman, Streams in the Desert. Each day includes a Scripture focus and a thought or story to help us, the reader, to focus our minds on God for the day.
In her introduction, the author explains: “Getting up early in the morning to fix my eyes on Jesus through prayer and reading His Word is like setting my spiritual compass each day. No matter what faces me during the day, or how “lost” and confused I may become, no matter how many decisions and choices I’m confronted with, my heart and my thoughts always turn towards Him. And He invariable leads me on the right path.”
Each reading inspires one to delve deeper into God’s Word and grow in both knowledge and understanding of Scripture. Each reading will help to keep the reader on the right path and with eyes and heart fixed on Jesus.
Anne Graham Lotz raises a question within each reading to challenge us to grow in our faith. Some of these questions are:
“Who are the lambs He [God] wants you to feed?” “Are you “halfway” to a vibrant relationship with God? “What problem are you facing that’s bigger than you are?” “When disaster strikes how do we, as God’s people, respond? “Jesus invites us to draw aside and spend time with Him. Why don’t we?”
The book is bound in an imitation leather making this a delightful devotional to give as a gift. The words inside are sure to become a treasure one will hold onto for a lifetime.

A rather simple devotional. I received this as a gift; it was a lovely thought (as I love devotionals) and the book itself is lovely, as well. There design and quality of the cover, and the clean, concise pages and ribbon book mark really went well together. Each day and short and to the point, good for those with only a little time. Each day also gives a verse, great to make sure you're getting the Word. Some days the verses didn't connect as well with the lessons - I found myself feeling like this was less of a "better verse available" or "read between the lines" scenario, and more of a "the author wanted to get her point across and threw in a verse". Some days were more about self than anything else and while I understand that you want the author to be relatable, I couldn't help myself from feeling like it was more an act of attention seeking/self righteousness. I very easily could be wrong, and recommend reading others reviews for their thoughts. This may be a wonderful devotion for you. I read the entire thing and looked forward to what each day had to say.
I used Anne Graham Lotz’s Fixing My Eyes on Jesus: Daily Moments in His Word to begin each day of 2022. Each devotional starts with a Scripture verse and the devotional, while short, gives a pertinent reminder and encouragement for the day. Recently I read ahead to begin The Grand Miracle: Daily Reflections for the Season of Advent.
I read this on Kindle as part of my daily devotions 2018. It is a great read. So much so I purchased a book copy to give Christmas. The daily readings are short but very informative. I highly recommend it.
I loved this devotional book by Anne Graham Lotz. It spoke to my heart. I would definitely recommend this devotional for yourself and as a gift to others.
Really enjoyed her short daily devotions. So many great reminders of the truths I needed to hear on many of the days. This was my first book by her and made me want to do another devotion and try her books.
A lovely devotional. One page per day, starting with a verse of Scripture followed by Lotz’s thoughts on a related subject. With only a few paragraphs Lotz manages to say a lot and provoke my own thoughts. I didn’t always agree 100% with her point but so much the better - iron sharpening iron!
Getting up early in the morning to fix my eyes on Jesus through prayer and reading His Word is like setting my spiritual compass. Because no matter what faces me during the day, or how "lost" and confused I can become, or how many decisions and choices I'm confronted with, my heart and my thoughts always turn toward Him. And He invariably leads me on the right path. My prayer is that the devotions in this small volume will help you fix your eyes on Jesus every day, so that you, too, can set your spiritual compass. --Anne Graham Lotz

JANUARY 22 THE TRADE-OFF For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. COLOSSIANS 1:9-10
What sin is preventing the Holy Spirit from filling your life? God's Word commands us to "be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). That means making sure you keep short accounts with the Lord where sin is concerned, every day confessing by name the sin you are conscious of having committed that day and asking God for cleansing so you will maintain sweet fellowship with Him. Are you thinking, "That's too much trouble. Besides, the sin in my life is so small, it can't make that much difference" or "I could never quit that. I enjoy it too much"? Whatever your excuse, is it worth the trade-off? Is it worth losing out on an intimate relationship with God as the price for clinging to your sin? Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). Love Him more than your sin. That's a command! ~*~

Anne Graham Lotz writes with spiritual power in bringing God's Word to a greater light in your personal walk with God. Each devotional strikes to the heart of daily living and allows the Spirit of God to convict and transform the reader.
It's hard to find really good devotionals these days, this is one that will not disappoint. Anne's writing style is warm, inviting, and really connects with the reader. I would say the only thing that I didn't like was that the devotionals were too short. These are VERY quick readings. I didn't really feel like I'd "settled in" in my time with the Lord. Before I knew it, I was finished and didn't feel that I had had a deep spiritual devotional time. So, that was the only thing I wish were different about the book. Otherwise, highly recommended.

I appreciate the theme of this devotional book, but after reading it each morning for a few days I finally just set it aside. It seemed somewhat shallow and not all that inspiring to me. It wasn't bad, it just didn't have the depth I was looking for. It came across as somewhat cliche-ish. However, the overall premise is very good, so if you're looking for quick, light readings it might be just the thing.
I have enjoyed listening to Anne Graham Lotz and this is my first book written by her. This devotional is based upon God's Word and encourages and teaches the reader. I highly recommend this....for all ages.
