I wish I was able to write this review in Italian, but sadly, one book doesn't make you fluent.
What a wonderful book it was, though! I bought Miti Romano two years ago as an incentive to keep studying Italian and despite the fact I needed a year to read through its 120 pages, I must say it was a perfect idea.
Rita Petruccioli's drawings are a delight to look at and illustrate the myths in a lighthearted, but nonetheless expressive way!
Carola Susani tells the myth in a vivid way and strikes a perfect balance of neither talking down to children nor making the tales bloodier or more adult than they should be in such a book. It was a compelling read and often I found myself in awe at sentences because they put things so beautifully.
(Review for English edition) Bought this book for my nephew. Not a good book for someone entirely new to Roman myths, and especially not for children because of the complexity of the sentence structure and assumption of knowledge of context (for example, that one knows who Hercules is), even though it appeared to be targeted for children with its book size, font size and number of illustrations. But especially the first two reasons. I think there aren't enough illustrations.
