The book starts with an overview of shop floor management and our BASICS Lean® implementation method. We then review some fundamental principles like batch versus flow thinking. We talk about the organizational structure that makes this system successful and review each of the new roles in this organization. Then we introduce our new Lean Leadership Development Path. Our Leadership Development Path focuses on developing leaders that develop their people who turn into leaders. Mr. Yoshino, who is profiled in the book Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn by Katie Anderson, is an example of this type of executive leader, as well as Ritsuo Shingo, who details this in his book My Leadership, The China Years .
