15 books5 followersNorman Jones was born in rural Idaho and went on to earn a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He taught history at Utah State University for 41 years, including 18 years as department head. An authority on Tudor Britain, Jones wrote more than 60 refereed journal articles and authored or edited 10 books- most recently Governing by Virtue: Lord Burghley and the Management of Elizabethan England and Being Elizabethan: Understanding Shakespeare's Neighbors. His first monograph, Faith by Statute: Parliament and the Settlement of Religion, 1559 (1982), won the Royal Historical Society Whitfield Book Prize. He was a visiting fellow at Harvard University, the Huntington Library, the Folger Library, the University of Geneva, Oxford University, and Cambridge University, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and a New Zealand Vice Chancellor’s Casual Lecturer.
