I found the story very relatable with a humorous context. However I found the illustrations and the design of the actual book very plain and not intriguing enough. This gave a poor impression as I believe the context of the story was very loving and a story to be told throughout generations. A very fun, influencing publication for all lovers of Adventure, Humour and Children’s imagination.

I found myself worrying about Ned and hoping he wouldn’t be judged by the way he does everything backwards. But my favourite part of the story was the fact, Ned ignored everyone laughing at him. I found this inspiring for young children who feel they are different to others.

My overall rating of this published children’s fiction book is 3/3.5 stars as I found myself wanting the images to be brighter and showing Ned in a different way.

I found that Pat’s writing was very true and I would recommend this story for a younger audience as I feel this would be a perfect story to tell my 4 year old niece, who loves to read before bed.
