We have recently joined a Methodist church and wanted to start out with a source of official information.
This was not entertaining in the slightest, but I do appreciate that my new denomination has gone to such trouble to spell out all the rules. And I loved that, with almost every (increasingly dry and boring) section, there were references to the mission and vision of the church!
If you are considering reading it for your personal theological information, I can vouch that (approximately) the last two-thirds of the book is church-administration-related and could probably be skipped! Also, please note that this version is the 2016 edition and does NOT contain information about the recent changes... so if you are feeling especially "woke", or especially otherwise, you need to account for the fact that there is some legacy stuff in here that will be changing with the next publication.
I really appreciated better understanding my denomination - what is stands for, how it works, etc. What struck me was the beautiful prose in a book of policy.
