Dissolution to Evolution: Navigating Your Divorce Through the Consilium® Process

Rate this book
Dissolution to Evolution is a book and a workbook that describes and details the Consilium Process, a new paradigm developed to help people who are thinking about divorce, to simultaneously create a parallel path of personal growth. Education about the law is combined with compassion for the social and emotional consequences of divorce. By merging the usually compartmentalized silos of law and psychology, family outcomes are optimized. A better understanding of the legal process and child-centered thinking disrupts the myth of "winners and losers" and leads to healthier restructured families.

The book highlights and details common, relatable scenarios, presents thoughtful options and constructs optimal outcomes. Various legal processes are described, building an understanding of options and giving agency to those undergoing divorce. The inclusion of a workbook helps people structure and pre-think their process. At a time when raw emotion often prevails, the workbook acts as a personal guide helping to create a personal roadmap built on a foundation of logic.

Dissolution to Evolution: Navigating Your Divorce Throught the Consilium® Process by Heidi- Rachel Webb and Julie Kunce Field is a guide for individuals and families facing possible divorce who are looking for an alternative method to the traditional proceedings. Addressing both the legal and psychological aspects of divorce, The Consilum® Process offers a seven-step program that facilitates a healthy transition for long term success post-divorce. Using case studies Webb and Field make a compelling case on the merits of the system and offer differing, practical examples of application in multiple circumstances that many might find themselves in.

I wish Dissolution to Evolution had come out 13-years ago, as it would have saved me from a great deal of headache and assisted me on the path I struggled to find for myself. Heidi-Rachel Webb and Julie Kunce Field are something of revolutionaries in the field of family law and now, with the release of this book, they are sharing the wealth of possibilities that are open to all even when a divorce takes a contentious turn. The case study that most struck me was with John and Molly. "Molly’s fear of John became apparent. His verbal abuse was constant, and when I asked her if she feared for her physical safety, she burst into tears. She told me that a few years ago John had grabbed her by the neck and threatened to kill her." Within the book there are cases that appear less volatile, and some that appear more so. This is important as it shows the scope of what can be achieved with implementation of The Consilum® Process, and I can't imagine a person considering divorce, a lawyer, a counselor, or anyone else in the field not wanting to consider the application of this innovative and progressive method.
