Inspiring and fascinating. I was amazed at the details of how they planned and executed this adventure. It was a great armchair read for this wanna be oceanic sailor. I felt like I was along for the ride.

Being an ultra marathon runner myself, I understand only too well the discipline and commitment it takes to plan and train for your big race and how long - perhaps 3-6 months. However, setting a goal and putting in 5 years of planning to sail around the world on a yacht with your young family including 2 Atlantic crossings takes planning and commitment to a different dimension.
On the face of it, this book is about adventure and a new way of experiential learning. In reality it is a chronicle showing clarity of vision, how to implement goals step by step, dealing with a litany of real challenges, setbacks and obstacles along the way.
By the time I’d gotten half-way across the world with the Cravens, approaching Australia I felt as if I knew the family intimately on a very personal level. As they spent many weeks together, schooling and entertaining 3 young children the family got to know one another as few ever have the opportunity of doing.
Any parent, manager or leader of others who reads this book will understand much more about human nature and teamwork than they did before. The book was hard to put down - but luckily I didn’t have to since I read most of it on a long haul flight. Like the Cravens, I reached my destination before I knew it. - Paul du Toit, CSP & author of 3 business books

Incredible and compelling account of the Cravan family's personal transformation on their circumnavigation of the world!
An inspirational story of one man leaping with his family toward their dreams - considering the upside and the taking the calculated risk toward achieving it - 5 years in the planning and 2 in the making and everything beyond.
It is also a great voyeuristic way to journey along with them without going through the tough and very real challenges and risks they face on the journey.

Enjoyable and educational sailing adventure
The combination of adventure, trials and victories keeps the pages turning, though a good chunk of the book is also devoted to motivation and life goals. My world view does not line up with the authors, though I think many people will agree with it - still picturing sailing around the world and visiting exotic places after place is fuel for the imagination. I’d recommend this if you are interested in sailing and have a family.

Great book for anyone who dreams of stepping out of their comfort zone and living their dream life. A diary but also hand on experience and advice for anybody thinking of sailing or circumnavigating the world. Photos and cost/ inventory breakdowns. Spot on!
