Deep in the Atlantic Ocean lies the ancient city believed to be Atlantis. It is, however, much more than that. After John Savage and Alyssa Moore realized that mankind was on the brink of an Extinction-Level Event, they seek the one relic that could elevate mankind to the next step of evolution . . . Or be destroyed by it.

While working alongside a military unit that works strictly “off-the-books” and without Congressional approval, John and Alyssa team up once again to search for the Sacred Vault deep beneath an ancient coliseum. Terrors run deep and nobody is safe. And dangers exist in every corner and at every turn.

As John and Alyssa discover the secrets of man’s future through the written prophesies of the Doomsday Calendar, one thing is for certain: in the mountains of Tibet, a sleeping giant has awakened.

And the only thing that may save them is an ancient relic.

After Alyssa’s refuses to help any more with the search for the New Children of Atlantis and their technology, the ‘powers that be’ bring back Professor Hillary. But he finds himself in over his head when events take an ugly and dangerous direction, proving that we are truly dark children.

For such smart and well trained soldiers they sure can’t think outside the box. It’s obvious that guns can’t help in most of the instances that people are getting killed yet they keep thinking guns are the answer. And none of those in command can see that they are their own worst enemies. I’m beginning to really hate these guys in command and the way this series is going. It’s better turn out the right way.

Peyton is supposed to be the leader of the best of the best of the best yet it was Savage that thought to check the opening that the skull came out of. That’s possible info you might need later to survive. Not good training.

Footnote: 1) This shows how the government corrals you into things at the start by saying everything is going to fine then after you’ve worked your way through the system you find out you’re caught up doing things you didn’t want to do.

Fave scenes: Hillary insisting on Sexton’s answer about Alyssa, Alyssa & Hillary’s reuniting, the Gladiator prayer and John racing the crystal skull.

At first I really liked this series, stating that it had a lot of potential. By now I have the feeling that this potential will definitely not be used. It bothers me that there are quite a few inconsistencies throughout the series. Also the story is becoming boring : except for a couple of gruesome details, nothing actually happens. Everything is so predictable and happens almost exactly as in the previous parts of the series. I also find the language very repetitive ("apex predator", "take point"... ). As much as I love a good sci-fi / archeological adventure, I don't know yet if I'll be continuing in this series.

Another great series by Rick Jones

I started this series because of the Vatican Nights series. It's very fast paced with lots of action. The characters come alive and are relatable. On average I read 2 books a week. Some are good, some great. I have enjoyed all of the books I have read from Mr. Jones. There are only a few other authors that I can say that about. I look forward to the next installment.

Extremely intriguing premise that appears to be well researched in background. Will be reading more of the series though I do wish the action and pace would pick up just a bit. Still a very good read! The premise of Thoth and also the Emerald tablets appear to be historically verified from ancient history.... as to Atlantis that legend/fact/myth continues to be a topic of endless debate/discussion! "Thigh" should read Thigh but edit is not accepting the change...Sorry!

Part of the story...stay tuned, oh...and buy the next book

Decent story but tedious in its telling. The author is stretching it out over multiple books by covering the same ground and repeating the same arguments over and over...to the point of distraction. Be prepared to buy multiple books because the story never comes to a conclusion...just wait for the next book.

A make you think read

This book, although fiction, makes you stop and look at the big picture. The big picture being how our history as humans with all the wars and violence when looked at with an objective eye really makes one think how things could have been different or not

Following On

Continuing the storyline, this novel picks up the action from City Beneath the Sea. Outstanding follow up sequel and the action is crazy. Hard to put down. Can’t wait to read the next one.
