Fox and Hare both spend the winter in their forest houses--Hare's is made of wood, and Fox's is made of ice. When spring arrives, guess which one finds himself out of a house? But that's so problem for Fox; he'll simply take Hare's house. Now poor homeless Hare wanders the countryside all alone. Will any creature come to his aid? Many try, but foxes are too clever for their tricks. Is there no one in the land who can help Hare return home?
In Igor Oleynikov's brilliant rendition of this classic Russian folktale, the internationally renowned artist, recently nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Medal, brings his bold graphic style to a tale of treachery and justice. Oleynikov's art is cinematic in its scope, inviting the reader to pore over these illustrations as they would a graphic novel. This book is a treat for all ages.
Igor Oleynikov was born January 4, 1953 in Lubertsy, a satellite town of Moscow. After school he entered the Institute of Chemical Engineering, though his dream was to go to the Institute of Polygraphy. After 6 years of studies, he worked for three years as a engineer. He quit after that and started working at "Sojuzmultfilm" animations studio. Since 1986 till now Oleynikov has been working for Moscow book and magazine publishers. Besides he still goes on drawing cartoons and can't really say what he likes more — cartoons or books.
