About the author

K.S. Marshall

9 books66 followers
K.S. Marshall is West Coast girl with a heart for Texas, who found herself calling Pittsburgh, PA her home. Having grown up with an avid romance reader for mother, the pull toward the genre was automatic. She enjoys writing complex stories with dark elements that keep her readers on the edge of their seats. Life and love are both complicated and messy and, true to reality, her characters are authentically flawed.

When she's not reading or writing another plot twist, you can find her having impromptu dance parties, eating her weight in tacos, and doing fitness stuff with her friends. She's absolutely crazy over her children and her fur babies, Weston and Lilly. And that Sean guy is pretty cool too.

Make sure you read book one Losing Her before you read this story. This book continues on from where Losing Her ends.

Derrick and Alinas relationship is beautiful. They’ve already been through so much but their love is so strong and they’ll do anything to keep each other safe.

This is a great read. I read both books pretty quickly. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

When I read book the author was new to me and I am so glad I found this duet.

The continuation of Derrick and Alina’s picks up where we left off with the couple reunited but Jason is still on the loose still plotting to get her back. We learn more about Jason but in my opinion he’s still a loathsome slime ball. We see up close how Alina struggles to deal with everything but I loved her determination even when putting herself in danger.

This was a great follow up book and I hope some of the secondary characters get a book of their own.

Even though Marshall knew I was struggling to get through any books lately, and seen me in this huge slump, she still gifted me an ARC of Finding Us Part 2 and I'm so glad she took that chance on me.

****MIGHT BE A BIT SPOILERY****

I loved everything about this book, even the parts that hit too close to home (mostly about Derrick' s reaction to Alina) because things in my life have gone down hill relationship wise, and a few of Marshall's passages hit me right in the feels. I didn't struggle reading this book- I had to step away a few times to digest and cry and be an emotional mess- and I got through it relatively quickly considering I haven't read a book in months.

Derrick and Alina are my relationship goals. If they can get through all of that, everything that happened to them, between them, around them, etc- and come out still ok and in love with each other, then they can withstand EVERYTHING that gets thrown at them.

I just want to mention Jason (I wanted to ignore him and not even mention him because the sight and sound of his name pisses me off) and say that I hate him. That is all.

Derrick and Alina's love is why I have impossible relationship standards. I blame them. I love them. And hopefully we'll get a look into their future one day (hint hint Kiranda 😉)!

You know how *'The Godfather' was such a great movie and when you heard they were going to film 'The Godfather (Part II)' -- you thought to yourself they should leave well enough alone -- only to discover that Part II was every bit as good as Part I. Then years later you heard they were going to film 'The Godfather (Part III)' and you were adamant this time around that Francis Ford Coppola shouldn't do it! Well, this is how I felt about 'Finding Us' -- it should have never been written or at least not without beta readers and major, major edits (much like G-III) to the story and plot.

It pains me to utter these words, but it's true -- at least for me -- there were simply too many things that didn't make sense, too many plot holes and no satisfactory explanations, two pivotal people disappeared from the story. We know what happened to one person ... but what happened to the other person? The hero would have wanted to know what happened to both of them, and it was never discussed or explained. The ending, after the resolution was missing something, and I just needed more.

I like this author's writing style so I will read her future books. I don't want this review to discourage you from reading this book, because it could just be me. Read it for nothing other than to satisfy your curiosity and the need to know how it all ends. Recommended.

*NOTE: Most of us either weren't born or very, very young when the Godfather was released -- but if you're a movie buff or a person that enjoys a good saga, then you've seen it. If not, I & II are must see films!

I absolutely fell in love with this duet! K.S. Marshall is a new author to me and I'm now a hardcore fan. K.S. Marshall knows how to tell a story! She knows exactly how to set a scene, how to make the reader feel different emotions, and knows how to natural progress different relationships throughout a book.

That is one of the things that I loved the most about this duet. K.S. Marshall is one of the very few people that I know that can naturally grow a romantic relationship between two people and not have it seem forced. The relationship between Derrick and Alina is one to be jealous of. He's fiercely protective of Alina and will do anything to ensure her safety. Alina is the same way, willing to risk her life and her safety to protect those that she loves. They're perfect together!

This story is one of suspense and will have you on the edge of your seat the whole entire time. We see more of Jason/Davin, as referenced by the epilogue in the first book. I really like how the author wrote that character. She did a good job of writing his two different distinct personalities. None of what Jason/Davin did seemed forced, either. Everything he did was for a reason and none of it seemed too extreme.

I'm a little sad that we didn't see too much of Rosa in this book, but we didn't really need to. Rosa is a great secondary character and was developed really well in the first book.

If you enjoy suspense and psychological thrillers, this book is for you. I give it five huge stars!

Warning.... You Must read Losing Her before this book

This story is picked up right where we left off from the last book. Alina is trying to get over her kidnapping. Derrick is there to help but, you can only help so much. Alina has to work through it and come back on her own. This is a story you must read to get the full effect.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

Finding Us was a great emotional 5 star read.

We start right where book one left off. Derrick and Alina are together and trying to make things work after all the big secrets that were revealed in Losing Her. Jason is still out there lurking and is determined to get Alina, we also learn something more about Jason that adds a great twist and element to the story as well.

Will Derrick be able to protect Alina? Will they get Jason before it’s too late?

Be prepared for quite the emotional rollercoaster, I was exhausted by the time I got to the end. Once I started I couldn’t put it down, K.S. Marshall does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in with her writing. I loved how protective these two were of each other. The secondary characters were great however Jason continued to not be one that I cared for although he made a great creeper. I would love to read something on Rosa, she was a great friend to Alina.

If your looking for a great suspense filled read with some dark elements and hot sex scenes I highly suggest this series. There are some scenes that could be triggers for some, take note of the authors warning.

5 Intense Stars!!

I’m done! I now know the conclusion to Derrick and Alina’s story! Every bit of it was worth the wait! It starts off with just as much intensity that Losing Her ended with. Derrick once again graces us with his alpha attitude and Jason really keeps us on our toes. There are some things that Alina does that I wish she didn’t because it kind of changed my perception of her. I do understand why she did them, but it was still hard for me to agree with. There were moments I almost felt sorry for Jason. I think he would have turned out to be a good person if it weren’t for his past haunting him. I think if he didn’t lose his first love things may have been different for him. When we get flash backs of him and Faye, I almost started to like him. That’s what was good about Finding Us! One minute your falling for the bad boy, then the good boy turns bad, meanwhile your just trying to figure it all out along the way. I really had mixed emotions throughout the entire story when it came to Derrick, Jason and Alina. I believe I had a love/hate relationship with all three at some point. To me, that’s what makes a great story, because no matter what, you will always be on your toes waiting for the next scandal to be revealed! That is exactly what keeps us coming back for more!

Warning.... You Must read Losing Her as this book is a continuation.

After reading Losing Her, I was left with so many questions. So many emotions. Almost a year after releasing Losing Her KS Marshall brings us the long awaiting sequel. And let me tell you, it is worth the wait.

Finding US gives us so much more. We see Alina struggling to find her normal. Trying to heal herself from the traumatizing event that no one should ever go through. Derrick blaming himself for what happened. Trying to be Alina's anchor, knowing that she has suffered so much but she won't say. Jason.... Oh Jason such a troubled soul.

KS Marshall broke my heart with Losing Her, and made me wait almost a year to bring it back together, slowly. She brings real life, real emotions to her characters. Mistakes and flawed, humans! We see what they go through to keep people they love safe. She gives us more back story into Derrick, Jason and Alina's life. I cannot stress enough, you will love it. Both of these books are truly amazing, real, heartbreaking, frustrating, suspenseful and everything in between.

This book going to take you hostage and leave you breathless.

This is book 2 in Derrick & Alina’s love story and is filled with so many surprises, emotions, tears, that sometimes I felt out of breath and need some time out to get my head back in place.

Derrick & Alina relationship is such strong bond and grows naturally, he is so protective of her, gosh I love alpha male, but Alina is the same way with Derrick and no doubt she can risk her life for him.

I can’t deny I cried my eyes out with this book, Marshal had done an amazing job, but I have to say that I HATE JASON with my soul!!!

My heart bled for Derrick. I relate to him the most in this story.

I didn’t understand Alina’s misguided choices. I was mostly disappointed with her decisions and line of thought.

I hate Jason, never had I once felt anything good about his character.

Derrick’s behavior, his way of thinking and feeling is reasonable in my standpoint. He was patient, understanding, and tolerant with Alina to the point that it broke him near the end. Yes, he became angry but it’s justified. Anyone can only handle as much, everyone has their limits. He took care of Alina but nobody helped carry the emotional and mental toll weighing him down. He did wrong actions, I won’t defend those, but they made sense to me.

Alina confused me. I can’t give my reactions because 1) I don’t know if PTSD was represented correctly in the story, having never experienced it; 2) I don’t know how a victim’s psyche works after suffering from abuse and violence.

I hate Jason.

I love the Lost & Found Duet.

Finding Us is Part 2 in the Lost and Found Duet, so guess what folks?! That's right! YOU MUST READ Losing Her (Part 1) FIRST, because trust me, otherwise you will be so lost, it won't even be funny. This Duet is the first time that I've read anything by K.S. Marshall, and while she seriously brought out all kinds of crazy emotions in me to the point of serious rage, I cannot deny that her writing style is brilliant & highly addictive. So addictive in fact, that I started this book right when I woke up this morning, and I kept telling myself one more chapter before I get in the shower, until lo & behold, it was 3 in the afternoon when I finished the book & I'm still in my pajamas. It picks right back up where where Losing Her left off with Alina trying to move on from her nightmarish kidnapping. Derrick is trying to help her, but she's not ready to tell anyone what happened to her while she was held captive, and it's causing a rift between them. Not to mention, her kidnapper hasn't been found yet, and she's not safe. Now, I fell in love with Derrick in Part One, even when he had to do things that I didn't like, his inner monologue kept me from wanting to harm him. But all bets are off now, as he didn't just make some questionable decisions, he went over a cliff as a complete douche bag jerk, and even his inner monologue was straight up (insert colorful metaphors here). He wanted Alina to let him in, and the first time she did, he hammered her to the point of breaking her worse, and for that, I will never forgive him. And all the pain he went through wasn't enough in my opinion, because he caused it all, and frankly, I entertained more than one thought that the villain should take him out, but then I knew it would break Alina completely, so I chilled. But he needed to be junk punched over and over and over and over and over again until he cried for years. Did she make some decisions that she shouldn't? Yes, but they weren't made in anger, so I can forgive her. The twists made me crazier than I already am, because while I saw one big one coming, it triggered so many I didn't see coming that my f-bombs are still dropping, while the angst almost choked me. Surely you can tell by now how powerful the writing was by this author, as I'm still reeling by all that happened. One thing I'm certain about is that everyone should read this duet for themselves, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Okay, took me back to hating Jason...yeah. I was happy that I didn't have to get half way through the book before I would remember where the first left off. The author was able to connect you into the first book and never skipped a beat.

Excellent

Great conclusion. Jason had some serious issues. Elina had a few mental issues but she loved Derrick as much as he loved her. This story was great .
