Beautiful and evocative artwork. Story starts as an informative (though dry) travelogue but turns into a pleasant story about saving the city from submerging. The two parts seem somewhat disconnected, however.
The book started off catching my interest as it explained some of the sights of Venice but then it lost me by stating there was a problem that you hadn't been made aware of earlier in the book - about five pages ago.
The illustrations were detailed and cute grayscale. The coloration was a disappointment to me since the cover of the book was done in beautiful colors that I wish had also been used in the book.
With the exception of bringing up the problem earlier in the story the tale was cute, easy to follow and creative in the solution for fixing the problem.
