In this first of the series, Doc shares his beginnings and introduces us to his 'daredevil' partner, Rich Vest, irreplaceable assistants, Rachel and Tracy, and his infamous cattle-gored truck 'Ol Blue' - as well as A.J, the horse trader, Big Bertha, the 'guard pig' and a pair of honky-tonk armadillos who 'drink too much'.

I enjoyed the stories in this book. While they started out short, by the end it felt like the vet had gotten into the swing of story-telling. Many of the stories were humorous, but there were sad ones, too. The humor is many times country humor and very Texan. I have already ordered the next book.
People who like animals would probably like this book. Young people considering a career as a veterinarian should read it. If you liked Crowded in the Middle of Nowhere by Bo Brock, you will most likely like this book, too.

What a fun and interesting read! This veterinarian has a most unusual practice, partly due to where he lives in Texas, and readers won't soon forget some of these stories. There is plenty of humor here but also plenty of dangerous situations/circumstances/places the good doctor must go and unique problems he must solve or deal with.
I didn't expect to be so intrigued with these stories, but they are educational as well as pure fun.

Interesting and warm vet tales well told!
Went by way too fast. Written in such a manner that you feel as if you are there. Lots of variety and action throughout. I like to think that our vet is as qualified and caring. I like animals and often was just speed reading to be sure all turned out ok.
